Wow. I like to see a kicker making tackles, but it tells me our ST is not getting the job done.

Could it be that he takes full advantage of his poistion after the kick while others have engaged blocks and lane responsibilities - he's roaming free from center field and making plays.

The kicker is often ignored by blockers on returns.


I believe there was an instance earlier in the season (may have been preseason) where Rackers forced a fumble but the returner was ruled down.

He's been in on many a tackle this season .... He's definately not afraid to get his uniform dirty.
He may not have a huge leg but he's accurate from 45 in .... Kicker is the one position Im not concerned with going forward.

I could be wrong but some returners don't view the kicker as someone who can take them down and then you get guys like rackers who come at you with all they got. Nice to see hustle by a special teams player!

With all the other holes on this team , Starting with the suckitude of the CB's , the inability of our LB's to cover a TE or RB , the DT's inability to generate pressure on the QB (Outside of the Titans game) and ending with the suckitude of the safety play ..... I think Kicker is so far down the list that Im totally satisfied with the play of Rackers this season.

Just tell me when the last time he missed from inside 40 ....

And yet....when the time comes and we somehow need a LONG yard FG to tie/win the game that determines our playoff fate, I'm not going to feel comfortable with Rackers.

I hear what you are saying, but the if a kicker is making the tackle, its typically means the ST players were unable to tackle him and the returner got all the way to the kicker. Rackers is not especially fast, certainly not faster than the CBs and other quick ST players. I like that he gives an all out effort. I just wish he didn't have to.

maybe he'd go with a fake fg and have Rackers throw the ball down the field since the D would never expect that!
