Took the lowly Bengals to the playoffs twice without having scouts or a GM because the Brown family is uber-cheap and sucky. His contract expires after this season. He won't likely cost anywhere near the ballpark that the Chin or Chucky would cost. His players actually like playing for him. Isn't afraid to take chances on players he feels can help his team. Defensive minded coach that could only help guys like Mario, Cushing, Ryans, and our swiss cheese secondary realize their potential.

* Ted Marchibroda, Baltimore Ravens (1996–1998)
* Brian Billick, Baltimore Ravens (1999–2001)

I think Coach Lewis could bring some questionable character in. It would be helpful...if someone isn't playing to their ability, let the shady guy shank them with a sharpened up toothbrush. It would do wonders for those players who are just collecting paychecks. Nobody wants to spend their money on emergency surgery.

Travis Johnson and Jerome Mathis both had incidents in college and were drafted by the Texans. Some would add Cushing to the list.

His win loss record mirrors Kubiak's and he is under .500. Not sure how that is such a good coach nor do I see the basis for saying the Texans or Houston won't accept a good HC.

He's had his team to the playoffs twice. His team's owner has one scout and three scouting consultants and no GM. He took a chance on Cedric Benson while we passed due to character issues and couldn't run the ball at all last year (while Cincy made the playoffs and Houston watched from home). He took a chance on TO (3rd in receptions, rec yardage, 4th in TD's) while we're trotting out lobster claws Jacoby Jones to bounce passes off of. He brings a defensive mindset on a team full of underachieving defenders.

What's the worst thing that could happen?

Mediocre and injury-prone QB that looks good solely because he throws to the best WR in the game? Check

Asses in dire need of crowning? Check!

I believe the overall point, is that Marvin accomplished much more than
Kubiak, with nowhere near the same resources and support.

His win % is virtually identical to Kubiak's. I think the claims of lack of support are overblown as well. He has been allowed almost free rein to bring in the players he wants.

But in any event, I didn't come in here to attack Lewis. I asked a question to a poster who laughed at the idea of him being accepted in Houston. He's too good doesn't cut it as an answer.

How many fumbles and neck injuries did Slaton have at the time?

The point is that our defense has a bunch of guys that should be horses and they're looking like Shetland ponies. A legit defensive minded coach could turn that around.
