It may be to soon to look to next season, but lets say if the Texans dont make the playoffs this year, does that mean that the free agent rules that applied this year apply next too even with the CBA up in the air?
I am thinking of this scenario - since we have holes on the defense it would be great if which ever coach is coaching went and picked up some players. I know the Texans never make the big splash, but it may still be possible. So my point is if the Texans dont make the playoffs it would be opportunistic for the current regime or new to come in and pick up players if the old rules apply. Since there was a change in RFA and UFA it seems to me there may be a large amount of free agents next season. Look at these two sites and free agents available. Some of it seems to be outdated though, like Miles Austin status. http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/featu...tion=QB&y=2011 http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html I am not ready to stick a fork in this season, but next season seems to be a season that a lot of moves could be made. If a new regime does come in, or the light bulb goes off with McNair and Smithiak, a person could pick up a number of players to fill immediate holes. Hopefully McNair and Smithiak if they are still around which more than likely they will, will realize that you can build through the draft and build through free agents. What do yall think? |

in terms of F/A we usually dont go after the biggest name
but we do look for under the radar Guyz or mid to low range guyz who we think can spark a team or hasent gotten the right chance or guyz that fit our scheme and team so anything is possible we did get Rackers,Lineart, and Antontio smith |

...How often do you never hear about a marquee fa signing AFTER he gets the big contract? (unless he's a super huge bust)
They're usually a huge gamble for the money they want and at least in my head usually seem to bust more than succeed... |

Drew Brees, Michael Turner, Steve Hutchinson, Charles Woodson. Really, no one talks about the FA signings that work. Just the busts.
