And with being 8th in carries, he leads the league in rushing and his second for yards from scrimmage.

Sunday he carried the ball 27 times, had 4 receptions and was our leading rusher AND receiver, yardage wise. So yes, YESTERDAY, he was used alot. probably a little too much, IMO.

However, that was a first. We ran some numbers at the pre-game tailgate and last year, with a terrible running game we ran the ball an average of 30 times a game. This year, not including Sundays game, we ran only 25. With Arian Foster doing so well, this was a bit surprising, both the results and the fact that he wasn't being utilized as much a he should be.

Don't know where your stats came from but from NFL.com an amazingly similar:

2009 - 26.6 attempts per game.
2010 - 26.6 attempts per game.

And having 32 attempts the last game didn't move this year more than a few tenths and obviously didn't impact last year.

Not directed at you gr8 but geez the frustration level is understandable but getting ridiculous in its expression. On multiple occasions at this last game I had folks in one ear yelling in one ear "run the ball you dumb MFer" and in the other ball is someone yelling "you stupid F$%k you have to pass the ball there." Folks need to simmer down some. Reality is this crud isn't black and white. There isn't a perfect call for every play (especially recognizable by fans or we would all be coaches) and the reaction is more based on the result of the play and game than it is on the actual merits of most calls.

I want to run the first part of the game, is it not football 101 to run the ball and then when the defense thinks your running you pass. I know Arian is running great so use him to win the game. And get some fire under those butts,

numbers were pulled up quickly by AJ on webphone after the conversation came up during the tailgate. Don't know where he was getting the numbers either, but he is usually pretty good at those things.

but even taking the fact that we are dead even on running plays per game, last year to this one, according to your numbers. We had no running game last year and were throwing the ball way too many times because of that. This year we have Foster. Shouldn't we be way UP in numbers with a good running game over last years attrocious one.

Not really frustration driving that conversation. It was just something we talked about, pulled up and looked at and were both kinda surprised that the running plays were not signifigantly greater this year with a much better and improved running back and running game.

Well here is the thing. 2008 we were running well in Slaton's rookie year. We ran basically the same amount in 2009 when it wasn't working. I expect we'll run about the same this year when it is working again.

I really wasn't talking about you. Like I said it is more my frustration in seeing or hearing frustrated fans complain no matter what happens and having half the frustrated fans take opposing sides to the other half. Like I said I literally had an obnoxious guy to my left screaming the whole game to pass the ball and an obnoxious guy to my right screaming the whole game to run the ball. It got old. Then come here and it is all piss and moan. Not near as much break down the plays, real analysis as when AJ and Vinny were around.

I don't think you should ever expect to see more than a 2-3 attempts per game swing over a season between two seasons with Kubiak as HC. Individual games will deviate significantly like the first Indy game but overall he is a balanced attack guy and thinks if the running game is going well it is time to dial up the passing game and the opposite.

OK - who out there before the season started thought Arian Foster would be leading the league midway through the season? - with some teams having 9 games to our 8. Pretty much nobody with us drafting Tate and lots of folks wishing we had drafted Matthews.
