Default Some Arian Foster Highlights and other stuff

I was watching the games this weekend and something struck me as I watched the “good” teams play. Not only is every NFL team quite flawed, but we have beaten many of them recently: Indy, Tennessee, New England, Miami… Each of the teams are clearly reliant on one strength of the team. For instance, we all know how essential Peyton Manning and the Colts’ offense is to the Colts’ chances for success. However, do you realize how vital Troy Polamalu is to the Steelers? Without Polamalu, the Steelers lost five games in the middle of last season to teams like Cleveland and Kansas City. This year, with a healthy Polamalu, they look great again. The Steelers are dependent on their defense and the defense is dependent on Polamalu. I bring this up because this is also the case with the Texans.

The Texans, I have come to believe, are a championship level NFL team when its major offensive pieces (particularly Andre Johnson) are healthy. When is the last time the Texans lost a game with a healthy Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels, and Arian Foster? It is a trick question. They never have! Of course, the sample is small because of the limited playing time Foster had last year. However, both losses this season came in games with an injured Andre Johnson and a still hobbled Owen Daniels. The four game losing streak last season occurred after the Owen Daniels knee injury but before the discovery of Arian Foster. Also, one can attribute the Jacksonville loss to a Matt Schaub injury. Now, I’m not excusing losses. My point is that, like many of the hopeful NFL teams, the chances of post-season success likely hinge on the shoulders of a couple players for the Texans, one of them being Andre Johnson. I would also argue that the Texans should be expected to win virtually every game they play with the healthy core of offensive players, even with a struggling defense. I’m looking forward to testing that theory next Monday at Indy. Considering both teams are powered by their offenses, the Texans should win the game because they have healthy key pieces while Indy is facing the loss of Dallas Clark and Joseph Addai. Anyway, something to think about while we wait another six days for Texan football.

Here are some impressive video highlights of Arian Foster excelling in each facet of the game:

LOL, Arian pwned on that last block.

One of two things are going to happen when you leave your feet in the NFL.....either you're going to make a great highlight reel play or you're going to get destroyed.

See Elway and then Rosenfels.....or Polamalu and then this guy.

I'm glad you did a video exclusively on the pass blocking. I think he truly stepped his game up against KC. He's be blocking well all year, but his work against the Chiefs really stood out to me.

I was frustrated with his pass blocking this season before breaking it down in the KC game. I'm not sure if he has improved that much or if my early season assessment was just errant. Either way, I'm happy with it right now!

What I like about Foster is that for a bigger guy, he can make himself small to get through small holes (or should I say a sliver of a hole). His blocking skillz are good, he can pass protect... He's pretty much a complete RB... The best in the league? Hardly, but very sound all the way around.

I particularly liked watching #55 drive his man 3 yards deep to the goal line on the last one.

What you don't see with Foster is him running up the backside of his blockers and then getting caught from behind by the DE coming down the line. I have been impressed with his ability to not look like every other RB we've had. The kid just gets it.

Seems like you can tell a pass is coming. Arian seems to wave his arms big after the snap?

Interesting, I see what you are talking about. On both of the plays where he is coming to the line to block he over sells the run and throws his inside arm up head high. Good pick up, I'd like to see more tape of play action where he stays in on the to pick up the rush to see if he's tipping the play. Granted it's after the snap, but if I'm a blitzer and see him tip this, I don't bite on the run.

That's the same with anyone that wants the ball. They all raise their hands to let the QB their open..

I think he is referring to 25 sec and 38 seconds in on the second set of plays while he is in the backfield selling the run before blocking. Can't tell as much on the first play.

I am. If you watch the first video, plays 1, 3, 4, 5... his motion is extremely crisp and fluid. He's overselling it in the second video where he pass blocks. I definitely think a solid defense would pick up on that. Kinda like the Cowboys and the Giants.

Maybe no one else realized this until now and you just helped the opposing defenses out.

THANKS A LOT!

I love watching him make cuts. He drives his hips through them and never drops a single bit of speed or power throughout the cut. I'm alright with his game hahaha...yeah. Picking up pass blocking too phew, I didn't realize that he absolutely SAVED MATT SCHAUB'S LIFE about 3 times. Nice to know he can be counted on to wall off the DL.

I don't want to jinx him, but some of those cuts are just unreal. He defies logic & the human anatomy.

Can't jinx skillz.

He may not have a 4.2 40 but he doesn't lose anything through his moves. Just awesome. He runs like Adrain Peterson except he doesn't seek contact, get hit and drop the ball, then glom off of Favre's fame.

Anyone that says they would rather have Arian than Adrian as a runner is nuts.
