Strength of schedule is going to be a monkey on BSU's back for the foreseeable future. Going to the Mountain West was a great step toward dislodging the monkey, made less so when Utah and BYU left. I'm not saying it's fair--after all, you can't spell BCS without B S--I'm just saying.

Good old hate on Oklahoma. Who has Boise State or TCU played? Oregon State? Meh. VT? Lost to James Madison. That said, I think Boise State is a good team, and that they should be ranked highly. I just think Oklahoma and Oregon should be ranked higher.

I think Oregon will be #1 very soon. Okla should be top 5. Boise will be lucky to be top 3 end of season with that joke of a schedule. The hardest opponent left on Boise's schedule is Nevada, and they just lost to Hawaii.

I think Alamaba still has a shot at the crown. But they are a long shot.

It's a good think it's a long season. Boise St. is just in such a tough/'unfair' position. I'll admit I have bias against them because of their schedule. I think they're a really really really good team (have been for a while) but I don't think they are the best team in the entire country! They need to consistently play tough teams but none of the good teams have incentive to add them as a non-conference game. Boise St. tries but noone will take them up on the offer.

Again, maybe I'm biased... hell I know I'm biased but put Boise St. playing against #5 Auburn, #6 LSU, #7 Alabama, #19 South Carolina, #21 Arkansas and #24 Mississippi St. on a consistent basis and what will happen?

Shoot put them against the SEC's unranked teams like Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee and they'll lose 2 of the 4.

If Oregon, Boise St., Oklahoma, TCU and Auburn all win out. My national championship is Oregon vs. Auburn. I'm also a guy though that thinks a team with 1 loss could still be better than a team that's undefeated. (oh my!)

OU will fall at some point...i'm thinking OSU in stillwater, always tough there. But i'm still thinking Bama will wind up back up top b/c they still have 3 more ranked opponents left (2 of which very highly ranked) & they'll come through. Oregon wins out in the Pac-10 to face them...It'll be a very good championship game imo.

Auburn beat South Carolina and Arkansas (I believe both ranked #12 at the time). They also beat Mississippi St. who is now ranked in the Top 25. I would argue SC, ARK and MS St. are collectively tougher THIS SEASON than FL St., UT and AF. Actually I think these 6 teams are all pretty good.

LSU has alot of good (are they?) victories but the way they won them was not impressive IMO. But I agree with you, I keep going back and looking at their wins and scratching my head. However if you really break it down, Florida isn't anything special at all this year. Good defense, not so good offense. I don't know alot about Mississippi State except that their well coached and I am not too impressed with their QB. Saw them play a couple weeks ago. North Carolina is also well coached but they really have lost some important players on that team. WVU is still a question mark as the only 2 winning teams they've played are LSU (Lost 20-14) and Maryland (Won 31-17).

Auburn is interesting. How good is their defense? They are giving up 24.4 points a game. Granted they stopped Arkansas' backup QB eventually, but they let him absolutely tear them apart for awhile. Who knows though, that backup may end up being the real deal. I am still impressed with the way they won that game against Arkansas, because I think Arkansas is a good team. Their win against South Carolina is impressive, and their offense is ridiculously effective.

Oregon isn't doing anything to be #2 IMO. They scored 72 and 69 points against New Mexico and Portland State respectively to boost their points per game average. Woo, way to go Oregon. Sure they beat Stanford pretty handily but who else? They've beaten nobody else. 3-3 Arizona State team is the best team outside of Stanford that they've played. Every other team is trash.

I really like Oklahoma though. I think they have everything they need to win it all. They are only giving up 19 points a game, putting up 36 points a game. They beat a Florida State team that has handily beaten every other team they've played except Boston College, a game they still won. They put up 47 on a FSU defense that has allowed only 16.1 points a game (15th in the nation), also allowed only 17 points against an FSU offense that has averaged 34.9 points per game throughout the season. They dominated Florida State. Then they go and beat Air Force, Cincinnati, and Texas in the next 3 weeks. They've been able to stay focused and continue to get better.

I can see an argument for Auburn and Oklahoma, but I don't see any other teams being able to compete with those two team's resumes at this point.

This is always my argument. And I agree with it 100%.

Look at the way Boise State has jumped into the national spotlight. It's almost like it's unfair to teams in the big conferences. Hear me out here. Any tough game comes before and after an easy game. They always have the luxury to look ahead and prepare. Something that not alot of teams get to do. And they don't have to worry about upsets within their own wack conference.

2010 schedule: First game where they have all offseason to prepare was VTech. Second game was WYOMING. Third game was Oregon State. Fourth gamewas New Mexico State. The rest of their schedule is a joke.

2009 schedule: First game where they have all offseason to prepare was Oregon. Second game was Miami (OH). Fifth game was UC Davis. Sixth game was Tulsa (who they would consider a good team on their schedule). Seventh game was Hawaii. Rest of schedule was a joke, then they play TCU in the bowl game that they had exactly a month to prepare for.

2008 schedule: First game is Idaho State. Second game is Bowling Green. Third game is Oregon. Fourth game is Louisiana Tech. Rest of schedule is a joke, then they play TCU in the bowl game that they had almost exactly a month to prepare for.

2007 schedule: First game was Weber State. Second game was Washington. Third game was Wyoming. Rest of schedule was a joke, then they played East Carolina in which they have exactly a month to prepare for.

2006 schedule: First game was Sacramento State. Second game was Oregon State. Third game was Wyoming. Rest of schedule was a joke, then they played Oklahoma in that big time Fiesta bowl win that they had over a month to prepare for.

2005 is the one year that they played 2 good/decent teams in a row. Just like if you were in an ACTUAL conference. They played Georgia week 1 and then Oregon State week 2. They lost both games. Lost to Boston College in the bowl game too.

RINSE AND REPEAT. This continues for awhile. It's the same **** every year. They play the same teams too. Oregon State, Oregon, and Tulsa are their favorite opponents to schedule.

I maintain that if Boise State was in a regular conference, even one like the ACC, they wouldn't be anything special. Everything they have done is based on having ALOT of time to prepare for each opponent and winning easy games early so they limit injuries/fatigue. It's almost as if they don't even have to play a full football season. Kinda unfair IMO that they are even in the top 5.

In regards to Boise St., I think they're a really good team and definitely deserve to be mentioned as "one of the best in the country", all this debate about "what if they go undefeated"?.... well what if OU, Auburn, ANYBODY goes undefeated??? They all deserve to be "in the talk" of going to the NC game. But it comes down to who they played on the field and an undefeated Big 12 or SEC or ACC team will primarily win that arguement because chances are they have the stronger S.O.S. Could Boise be the best team in the country? Absolutely they can be. I love rooting for the guys who don't always get a shot at the big one. But they've (i) got an easier schedule and (ii) like you said, it's easier for them to prepare against their tougher games due to their easier schedule. I may be stretching it here: But would you say that they get "better" film on their bigger opponents because they've faced other tough teams? They can see where some things havn't worked against them and then other instances where they've been exposed? Where watching film of a Boisie St. game is almost like watching practice tapes!?! lol

In regards to Oklahoma - they have totally surprised me this year. I thought they were up a creek after losing the talent they did to the NFL. They've really come out strong.

I would love to maintain the BCS where the Top 8 BCS ranked teams at the end of the year get seeded into "The Playoff Bracket", 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7 and so forth. Winner is the Nat'l Champion.

Right, if two teams from big conferences go undefeated Boise State should have no chance under the current system. If we are basing it off SOS and the like without a playoff system teams need to play people throughout the season. Not just one or two difficult games spread out across your regular season. TCU and Utah are kind of in the same situation. TCU and Utah play each other, then their two big non-conference games this year are Oregon State and Baylor for TCU, while Utah plays Pittsburgh and Notre Dame. They are better off than Boise State IMO. TCU should be ranked higher than Boise State at year end if both are still undefeated.

Now I don't know if they just can't get people to play them, but they need to do something. I honestly doubt they can't find tougher non-conference games than they schedule. They still all schedule cream puff non-conference teams even though they play in cream puff leagues.

I think the Mountain West Conference is being smart about it right now. They lost Utah but they added Boise State, Nevada, and Fresno State. Those three are probably the best three programs in the WAC conference, if you see Nevada as a more superior program than Hawaii. So the MWC came out on top with those teams, but honestly they still need more depth. I wonder if they could pry Houston and/or UTEP from C-USA. So the MWC has TCU, Utah, Boise State, Air Force, BYU, Nevada, and Fresno State as top teams so far. That's not too bad.

Oh, no doubt. Not only that but they don't have to use their trick plays, or even all of their normal playbook in most of their games. When they get to their bowl game they still have alot of things they can surprise you with. Teams in the SEC, Big 12, etc have to fight every week to survive so they are more likely to pull everything out earlier.
