Default Dr. Galea indicted, players he treated won't be

This is the same doctor that pioneered the Platelet Rich Plasma therapy that AJ received. The great results that he reported has had virtually no one being able to duplicate his success. This is very well explained by the fact that HIS injections included (besides the PRP) various concoctions of HGH, anabolic steroids and other PEDs. Tiger and A-Rod were only some of the high profile sports figures that had the "fortune" of Dr. Galea's personal touch.

As expected, a federal grand jury in Buffalo has indicted Dr. Anthony Galea on five felony counts arising from allegations of smuggling misbranded and unapproved drugs from Canada into the U.S.

The good news for NFL players (and other athletes) is that no charges will be filed against Dr. Galea's patients. "There are no athletes charged with criminal activity," U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Kr. said, per the Buffalo News. "They are viewed as witnesses, rather than as defendants, in this case. Any one of these athletes treated by Dr. Galea could be called as trial witnesses."

The bad news is that being called as trial witnesses means being compelled to testify under threat of contempt of court and penalty or perjury regarding the substances Galea provided. And that testimony could be enough to trigger a suspension under the league's steroids policy.

Though Galea, though his lawyer, has proclaimed his innocence, the defense reminds us of the last-gasp play called by a desperate offense -- the Hail Mary. "Just because a drug is unapproved by the government doesn't mean it's illegal," said Galea's lawyer, Mark J. Mahoney.

We've got a feeling that the connection between the use of unapproved drugs and illegal conduct is a lot more clear and obvious than Mahoney realizes.

Complicating matters for Galea is the apparent fact that his assistant, Mary Anne Catalano, has been "flipped" by the feds, equipping the government with ample evidence regarding the manner in which these "unapproved but not illegal" compounds were secretly smuggled into the United States.

Setting aside the hGH and steroids, what are your thoughts on PRP? Is it just a good idea that didn't work without the extra substances, or is it total fraud?

Is this a known fact or speculation?

Dr. Galea's mixture of PRP and HGH, (and other substances actually even including testosterone) or separate injections temporally related, is part of what the feds state that they have proof.

Clinically or histologically (microscopic examiniation of the tissues) there has never been affirmation that PRP significantly improves healing. Also funny is that, speaking to mixing the HGH into the local injections, HGH has no LOCAL effects. The effects are gained only after absorbtion into the blood on a SYSTEMIC level. All the evidence points to Galea's scheme as simply a disengenuous delivery sytem solely for hiding the administration of certain substances.
