What do you guys think of Anthony Thomas from the Bears, he put up 2 good seasons there...I think for the right price if we dont draft a back he could come in and compete to split carries but from what I hear he isnt a good receiver out of the backfield....anyone have thoughts??

I'd get him...but everyone wouldn't.
I like him to be a 3rd down back for us...or if Davis misses a game, he can get you a good game in spot up duty.

I think he would be a great addition. He is a big body back, who can wear down a D, and get good chunks of yardage.

He is an upgrade over Wells and would give DD some competition. The question is at what price.

He's definitely a better power back than Wells, but Thomas will probably want more money than we're willing to pay...I still think our best option would be to try and get Shelton in the 3rd...

maybe as a back up guy but not as the starter for the texans, D.D should remain the starter, though i think A-train would be a nice back up to him, all depending on how much it would cost to bring him in !

Why get A-Train when we could save money and get someone we actually need.

Anthony Thomas isn't what we need and we're not what he needs. Anthony Thomas wants to be a starter. I think he should be a starter. We already have a starter in DD who's roughly in that lower end franchise back range. We can all make arguments that Thomas would be better than Davis or the other way around but I really don't care which way it goes.
They're close, different styles but overall very close so adding Thomas isn't going to impact the Texans in a tremendous way. They won't get a great deal better and if they do then it will be because of improved line play and it would have happened if we'd left Davis in there as our starter. Anthony Thomas is going to get big money and his impact here won't justify it. |
