Barber brothers matchup a “dream come true”

Sunday’s game marks the first time that Texans safety Dominique Barber will play against his brother, Cowboys running back Marion Barber III, in a regular season game.

Dominique (6-0, 213), who is three years and two months younger than Marion (5-11, 218), previously faced his older brother in preseason games in 2008 and 2010.

“It’s extremely exciting,” Dominique said Tuesday in a conference call with Dallas media. “Just the fact that it’s my brother I’m playing against, it’s a dream come true.”

The Barber brothers grew up in Wayzata, Minn., competing in all things together against their father, Marion Jr., who was a running back for the New York Jets from 1982-88.

They went on to play together in college at Minnesota in 2004. Big brother was drafted in the fourth round by the Cowboys in 2005. Little brother was a sixth-round pick of the Texans in 2008. They now train together in the offseasons, with Dominique calling Marion “probably the best role model any person could have.”

Friends on opposing teams sometimes shut down communication in the week leading up to a game, but that won’t be the case with the two Barbers this week.

“Our relationship is extremely close,” Dominique said. “We talk every day, whether it be through text message or talking on the phone. Our relationship isn’t about wins and losses. It’s about the love, and we get that from our family. I love him to death.”

I would sure like to see Troy get some field time. He and Bing looked really good to me in PS.

I hope the only way Dominiqeee gets on the field is if we are ahead 4 TDs. Our trade down trio (Brown, Slaton and Barber) needs to step it up. Oh, wait, Brown is SUSPENDED!
