Players gripe about their contracts all the time. But after Sunday, it's hard to imagine anyone has a better case than Texans running back Arian Foster, who has rushed for 350 yards and five touchdowns in his first two NFL starts. Foster is scheduled to make $310,000 this season and $395,000 next season in what might be the best value contract in all of sports. Foster's fine fullback, Vonta Leach, earns considerably more from the four-year, $8 million contract he signed in 2007. Should Foster rush for 102 yards against Washington on Sunday, he would break Jonathan Stewart's record for most rushing yards in a player's first three NFL starts since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. It's often pointed out when top draft picks are overpaid; every now and then, there is an undrafted free agent who is underpaid.

This Arian Foster stuff is going a little too far. Let's let the guy at least have a half season under his belt as a starter before we start inducting him into the Hall of Fame. In that I am speaking about the national media also.

I agree. Good thing is it doesn't seem Foster is letting the media do this to him.

My first thought too was that he started that Miami game and he did. He was part of that 1st half massacre we were putting on Miami.

1) Thanks to this article, I'll be hoping Arian rushes for 102 yards in Sunday's game. Prior to this, I was just hoping for another good game. Now, I'm hoping he breaks another record.

2) I don't think this is trying to put him in the HOF. I think it's nice, that someone is looking at it, from the POV that this article does. We forget that not all these athletes are raking in millions. It's nice to see a guy earn a living in today's NFL.

I agree with you. Let's see him do this for a few more games. Good thing Arian has got a brain to go with his brawn, I'd hate to think of him getting the "big head" and demanding more money right off the bat.

I think he'll have a good season and the Texans will reward him with a nice contract in the off season. Depending on the lock-out that is.

Nope. I believe Moats started the game, but Foster did handle most of the load with 19 attempts.

Call me names if you will but I am happy, happy, happy to see a great running game especially from a UDFA. No I am not nominating him for HOF, but can't see any reason he should devolve to an average back either. Especially if the Oline continues as it did against the Colts. I am also hoping Slaton gets some yards and builds his confidence. I think holding on to the ball is almost more important for him than big yards. Would be good to have these two settled in at end of season and then know your 2nd round guy Tate (Thunder and Lightning in one body) will return for next season.

Well, quite honestly, if Foster really is The Real Deal, and Slaton returns to his rookie year greatness, and Tate is everything he is supposed to be, I can almost assure you one of them will get traded for a nice draft pick. I can't see keeping three starting calibar RBs on a team that can pass so well.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see keeping all three IF Foster tears up the NFL and Slaton becomes his old self again.

Correct. I think the $395 is this season and he is RFA next season. A lot out there but little on his contract. He was an undrafted free agent and on an injury like Nolan first season but did play end of last year.

Let's let Foster keep playing well before handing him the rushing title already. Lord knows we don't need all of this extra media attention going to his head this early or the Texans team for that matter. They need to keep their heads down and keep working.
