He had 6.5 sacks and a forced fumble last year in 14 games. Broke his leg in December and was placed on IR. The good thing is that the break was an isolated clean break of the fibula (the small non-weight-bearing bone of the lower leg), so he should be well healed with no residual performance effects.

I wish Barwin very well and think he has a lot of upside but this is a good pick up nonetheless.

Ryan Denney who was born in Houston and has ties to the Broncos, had 2 sacks last year. He's a tall boy at 6'7" and 264. The knock on him is he loses leverage and speed is not his forte........so I'm not totally understanding this pickup.

Sorry...couldn't help myself...

Wally Ogunleye is similar to Barwin as far as size goes, also he's a sack specialist so maybe they intend to keep the crazy packages as long as he can man that position. I don't think he has quite the wheels Barwin does, especially at 33 but hey, this is a decent sign. If anything, we should feel pretty confident about Rick Smith's after-game-1-signings.

I think you mean Bills. No ties to the Broncos, but eight seasons with Buffalo - including (obviously) Kollar's time there.

I wonder if this might have been something that's been a possibility all along. Maybe not Denney specifically, but a swap out of a young player for a veteran after week 1. Not being on the opening day roster, Denney's salary's not guaranteed for the season, and Jamison does have PS eligibility. They also have an available PS spot last I checked.

I certainly don't see it as anything too significant, but then again, what do I know?

I got everything screwed up......I did mean the Bills/Kollar........but he was born in Denver, not Houston.
