But it's like the Tom Brady and the Tuck Rule -- they got the call right according to the rule, but the rule is absolutely terrible.

the rule:

"If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete."

The question was whether or not he had the ball when it hit the ground and het let it go (very quickly) or if it popped loose.

The officials apparently ruled the latter, and based on that judgment, the rule says it's incomplete. I guess this rule is designed to eliminate judgment calls in terms of whether someone had the ball long enough, but that also eliminates situations like this one where CJ had the ball in clear control for a *long* time before the ball hit the ground.

Nothing new. See Raiders Murphy last year. They say you must end up with the ball basically until you hand it to the ref when you catch a TD pass and are untouched.

The halftime of the Skins and Cowboys just said the rule was interpreted correctly, and its the rule's fault.

Either way, it STINKS. That should be a TD.
