The Texans’ captains for the 2010 season were named on Friday. Texans coach Gary Kubiak announced them to the team after practice, eliciting a spirited cheer from the huddle of players around him inside the Methodist Training Center.

A few minutes later, Kubiak listed off the captains, which are determined by player votes, to the media. They are as follows:

Offense
WR Andre Johnson (4th year as captain)
QB Matt Schaub (3rd year as captain)

Defense
LB DeMeco Ryans (4th year as captain)
DE Mario Williams (3rd year as captain)
SS Bernard Pollard (1st year as captain)
DE Antonio Smith (1st year as captain)

Special Teams
LB Kevin Bentley (2nd year as captain)

The Texans normally have two captains per side of the ball, but they wound up with four on defense because there was a three-way tie in voting after Ryans.
