*EDIT* This post is proof I should never be a GM. My math is wrong.. and this trade sucks.
#1(19th) David Pollack #3a(66th) Chris Canty #3b(73rd) Eric Shelton #3c(78th) Jason Brown #3d(81st) Rob Pettit (*edit* and i put the wrong guy here. changed it) #4 (#?) Boomer Grigsby We would be lucky to have Chris Canty and Eric Shelton fall to us. Last edited by Grid; 03-17-2005 at 08:24 PM. |

I'm not sure I like the idea. In essence we'd be trading down six picks in the first round, trading our second round pick for the Ram's third, and getting thier extra third round pick. Plus we'll throw in Sharper? |

from a points perspective.. its a fairly even trade.
our first and second = 1630 their first, and two thirds = 1845 making sharpers worth 215, or a mid 3rd rounder. not bad considering this draft will probably be more expensive to trade down than up. |

it still doesnt seem very fair does it? we are essentially trading down 6 spaces in the first, 19 spaces in the second, and giving them sharper for the 81st pick in the 3rd.
yah.. amazingly it adds up mathmatically though :P |

aha!!! looking at it that way made me check my math.. the stupid chart I was looking at was wonky and I was counting their 3rd rounders as second rounders! BOOYA!

same premise.. we could make the trade except we give them our first and second and sharper for their 1st, 2nd and 2 3rds.
that would be more even. unfortunatly I doubt that St Louis would trade their entire 1st day draft for Sharper and the 13th and 47th pick.. they may though.. never know

LOL good joke GRID... its a bigger need than a DL... We resigned the whole DL and payed them good money... trust me they wont sit.... stop thinking like a fan and think like a Owner. it wont happen
Williamson or Barron are pretty much are 2 choices if williamson is gone maybe a trade down or Clayton thank you can good bye |

please.. give me ONE good reason why WR is a need?
IM thinking like a fan? how old is our DL? we have TWO very old and injured starting Dlinemen in Payne and Walker. Yah we resigned them.. how freaking long do you expect them to last? We need youth on the Dline cause either one of those two could go down with another injury at any time. And if they dont, they will probably only be with us for another season or two and it would be beneficial to us to have a young Dlineman that has been getting a little bit of playtime for the past year. You seem to be under the impression that drafting a Dlineman means he will sit on the bench for a year and wont make an immediate impact. Have you ever watched a game? how often do you see Deloach and Ioane out there? pretty dang often. A rookie Dlineman would get plenty of playing time in our system. and besides.. Pollack isnt a freaking dlineman.. he is an OLB Tweener. get your facts straight. and we DO need an OLB cause chances are, Peek is not what the coaches want at LOLB... otherwise he would have already been starting. but you feel that WR is a bigger need.. why? cause its more exciting to watch? cause we lack talent at the position? are you off your rocker? we have Gaffney and Armstrong.. two VERY talented young players who showed ALOT last season. |

Reasons y we need WR. Gaffney will never be better than #3. I dont think he has the capibility to stretch the field like a williamson or a clayton could. Gaffney is more of your over the middle or 10 yard and stop wide out. He isnt good enough to draw the double team to take that away from Johnson. YOu what about armstrong and Sterling... yeah what about them Armstrong is good but no #2... sterling myte not even make the team.... Gaffney doesnt make that good of money. I think if bradford had.. had a good season he would of gotten the money Williamson or Clayton would of gotten. Reasons y OL could be drafted. Wand didnt do all that well last year. Alex Barron would be a good #1. If the lions dont take him. Man i have been arguing this for days and like i have converted many to the fold... Just remember think like a Owner. You have a full team of DL makes millions of $$$. An empty WR position that we need to make room for Johnson and to draw the double team. An OL to give wand more time to develop. |

Royce.. dude.. quit with the "think like an owner" line cause honestly you arent saying anything very insightful.
yah.. we are paying 2 very old linemen alot of money...and the REASON we are paying big money is because we have no other choice. We have no younger, cheaper Dlinemen that can do their job. So we have to pay a couple of beat up veterans to stay and keep playing and hope like hell that they dont get injured. We need youth so that we can let one or both of them go and take some of that pressure off the cap. THEY....WOULD....NOT...SIT. at least not any more than they currently are. the young prospect would see about 1 snap in every 4. He would do what Deloach and Ioane are already doing.. he would give Walker and Payne a breather. Stretching the field is not the job of the #2. You can make it his job but it is not necessary for the #2 receiver to stretch the field. His job is to get open and make catches. Force the defense to be wary of him so that they cannot gang up on your #1. SO.. a player such as Armstrong who can get open and make tough catches would be qualified to take the #2 spot. Now, im not a coach and neither are you (no matter how much you claim to think like one).. so there is no way to know if the coaches feel Gaffney or Armstrong can handle that kind of responsibility. But I know for a fact that there is no way that we as fans can say that they cant handle it, cause they have not done anything to show us otherwise. We havent even given them a shot at it :P. WR is POSSIBLY a need.. but it is not a pressing need and the WR group that we have right now would be adequate enough for next season. No wand didnt do real well.. he made lots of "newbie" mistakes. But he has good foot work and is the prototypical size, and we cant uproot our offensive line every season and expect them to suddenly do well. At some point we have to eventually say "this is our oline and we are going to make it work".. otherwise we are just gonna keep bringing in new people, they will never mesh, and our oline will continue to suck. The reason I dont agree with drafting Barron is because he is NOT an elite Oline prospect. he is possibly the best in this years draft.. but he is only an average prospect in comparison to the LTs already in the NFL. There will be much more valuable players in the first round of this years draft than Alex Barron. You can argue it till your blue in the face, but its gonna take more than "gaffney cant stretch the field" to convince me that we need to use another high draft pick on a WR. BRADFORD could stretch the field.. it didnt seem to help us all that much last year did it? If there was another Andre Johnson or Roy Williams in this draft.. then I would be all for grabbing them if they fell to us, cause that is a valuable player to get at #13.. but Williamson is just Bradford II. Maybe he will be a better player in the long run, but I doubt he will be better this year, and we need youth on Defense more than offense. |

if Casserly wasnt incredibly unpredictable id be tempted to make a bet with you.. cause honestly I think you are basing your picks on personal preference instead of any real knowledge of our needs or the players available in this draft.
but Casserly could Draft a QB in the first and Punter in the second for all I know, so it would be pretty pointless to try and predict one way or the other. suffice to say I think you are entirely wrong in almost every opinion you have voiced :P |
