Offense:
(QB) David Carr Tony Banks Dave Ragone (RB) Dommanick Davis Tony Hollings Jonathon Wells (special teams) (FB) Morran Norris Jarred Baxter (TE) Mark Bruener Bennie Joppru Billy Miller (OT) Chester Pitts Todd Wade Seth Wand Brad Lekkerkerker (OG) Zach Wiegert Fred Weary Milford Brown Todd Washington (C) Steve Mckinney Jamal Powell (WR) Andre Johnson Jabbar Gaffney Corey Bradford Sloan Thomas Defense: (DE) Robaire Smith Gary Walker Jerry DeLoach Corey Sears (DT) Seth Payne Junior Ioane (OLB) Jason Babin Kailee Wong Antwan Peek Shantee Orr (ILB) Jamie Sharper Jay Foreman DaShon Polk Troy Evans (CB) Aaron Glenn Dunta Robinson Kenny Wright Jason Simmons Demarcus Faggins Vontez Duff (kick returner) (FS) Marcus Coleman Marlon McCree (SS) Eric Brown Ramon Walker Glenn Earl (P) Chad Stanley (K) Kris Brown (LS) Bryan Pittman Practice Squad: B.J. Symmons (QB) Derrick Armstrong (WR) Jammal Lord (FS) Jabari Holloway (TE) Terrance Martin (DE) Travis Carroll (ILB) Charlie Anderson (OLB) Garrick Jones (OT) This is all an early prediction. I expect major competition at the 4th WR spot between Thomas and Armstrong. alot more competition at CB. the KR/PR competition should be another . i could see changes from the above roster also at the OL positions as well as LB positions. |

Since I know of the Practice Squad rules, i'd have to change that a little too.

Am I wrong to wonder if Symmons could push Ragone for that 3rd QB spot in the future?

Nope Texan279, I could see Symmons beating out Ragone for the third spot. But just some notes, I think Texans will have more than just 4 WRs. Where is Raheem Orr?

We are probably going to carry a 5th WR...that would be Armstrong I'm guessing. I don't know how well Sloan Thomas is doing...I haven't heard much in reference to him in the mini-camp articles.
That's the only major issue I saw with your initial guess. I question Miller being the #3 TE...I might be a bit too much of a Billy fan, but I think he is at least the #2 guy going in. I do agree that we will see some flux in the LB corps...that should be interesting to watch over the course of the summer.

I doubt VERY much that Banks would be let go to have Rags and Symons as the backups. After this season, well that's another matter. Symons like to go to developmental or possibly NFLE IMO.

I've heard the term 'major school sleeper' used to describe him, and this seems appropriate especially considering Texas' run happy offense, Roy Williams and the fact that Sloan actually ran a 4.4 40 at Texas' Pro Day. Production nonwithstanding, and on paper, Sloan seems to be in the same mold of all the other top WR's drafted the past couple of years. So here's to hoping that he will be catching passes in Steel Blue this fall!

I don't think Vontez will beat out JJ. JJ had decent return capabilities.
Its his job to lose. |

Chris Palmer was talking up Sloan Thomas in a big way on sportsbeat last week. He said he was looking very impressive in camp.

I was incredibly unimpressed by Ragone last year, even taking into account the situations that we saw him in. Assuming that Symons rehab goes well over the next few months I would love to see him in NFLE then step in to the #3 role on the squad next year. Banks is a servicable back up (I pray that someone will tell him that it is OK to throw to a receiver that is less than 30yrds downfield!) that will be solid for another couple seasons.

from the first list i'd put duff, jamal powell, and one of the hb/rb's onto the practice squad and add jj moses, derrick armstrong, & terrence martin to the active roster.

I think Ragone will be fine, and from that list I don't think JJ Moses, Jamal Powell, Todd Washington, Brad Lekkerkerker, Sloan Thomas, DaShon Polk, Troy Evans, or Jonathon Wells make the final sqad, but some of the youngsters will make the practice squad. You also have too many linemen on that list.

I look for Simmons to be PUP'd or even IR'd to keep him off the practice squad, and thusly being picked up by another team. Banks will be back this year, with the eventuality of Ragone being #2 next year and Simmons being #3 next year. Lekerkerkerkerkerkerker got the biggest signing bonus of any undrafted FA in the entire leauge, so I think that they actually consider him as a good possibility to make the roster as a back up. It was Wand's ole' block that got Carr busted up last year, he aint exactly Anthony Munoz, he's too unproven to not have plenty of meat around to put in there to spell him. I hope JJ "25 yard dash" Moses didn't sign a long term lease anywhere, because we need a return man who has a little stamina and won't get absolutely punked by Craig Hentrich. With Armstrong, Duggans, Thomas, Anderson, Starling, and Jermaine Lewis all fighting for the #4 and possibly a #5 WR spot, I don't see us wasting roster space on an undersized returner with underwhelming speed.
