That's also what Pollard was saying. I posted a link to his podcast in the You ready? thread. I am glad to hear they have high expectations this year. Now the need to walk the walk.

Nothing wrong with the team having that mindset. One only needs to look to our AFC South rival, Tenn. After posting two back to back 8-8 seasons, they had a very good record and not only made it to the playoffs but went all the way to the Super Bowl. It can be done.

Yep, nothing at all wrong with positive thinking, but I'm not buying anything, not yet. That season opener with the Colts in Reliant is going to be,
well "the biggest game in the teams history" to repeat an oft spoken remark about the Texans in the last couple years. But seriously, that game is gonna have so much to do with the teams psychology for the season, and not to mention it's another chance to beat the Texans old nemesis and start the seaon by winning a division game. |

I put the over/under on "Biggest Games in Texans History" at 6.5 this year. This nonsense will stop once they make the playoffs. By the way, I'll take the over. |

It's called BELIEVING!! That's where it all starts! Something our team has lacked since the beginning, and I'm happy to see the + attitudes. A little PASSION can't hurt either!! Regardless, I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!

In our brief history, very few games had any meaning whatsoever. Last year, we were 5-3 after 8 games. I believe that was a first for our team. From then on, every game had play-off implications, especially considering we were going into a 4 game divisional gauntlet. Since we didn't really do so well in those 8 games, 4-4, not beating any of our division rivals, only one game against a quality opponent, and they had nothing to play for... we'll have another bunch of "most important game in team history." so I guess I should say the nonsense will stop, when we start winning some of those meaningful games.

both sides of the ball. Winning and losing, this season, should largely be an effect of what's going on between their collective ears.

I was thinking about what some people are saying about the teams huddle break. You know alot of people on this board were getting all worked up because fans, front office, players and coaches were acting like we made the playoffs when we reached 9-7. Alot were saying that as long as we accept mediocrity we will continue to be mediocre. Yet a player comes on and says they are setting their sights high and the team is trying to instill that kind of attitude and we say " I believe it when I see it".

Last year, before the season began, everyone from thefans to the players to the coaches to the front office to the owner were shooting for/predicting "playoffs." For whatever reasons, that did not happen. Now, there are cries of "Super Bowl." Very inspiring. I'm rooting for the same. But, ill feelings can't be harbored towards those skeptical of the final outcome.

The way I see it is, this team got a small (very small taste) of what it is like to be a winner and now they are saying they want to play for all the marbles. All I'm saying is that if the players start to have that attitude than everyone else will follow suit, and perhaps that can be the environment we as fans get to be a part of from here on out with The Texans.
The two teams I hate the most, Pittsburgh and Dallas, are the two teams with the most Super Bowls. From the owner down to the fans, if at the end of the year their team isn't holding the Lombardi Trophy, the season was a failure. When I look at all those America's Game documentaries they show on NFL Network, the common theme with each guy they interview is that they all say how the team BELIEVED what they could do. Go back and look at all of them 49ers, Packers, Broncos, Ravens. They set the precedent with a belief in each other early in the season. It was that belief that got them through those real hard games in Nov and Dec. I'm glad that our team has now said, "we don't want to be good, we want to be great". Anyone remember when our teams goal was to have the other 31 teams in the league respect them? |

I want nothing more than the Texans to win a Super Bowl. But for now, that's just another daydream until they prove they have what it takes.
As professional football players, they HAD BETTER be shooting for the Super Bowl anyway. It's their job.
