Not immediately. I have heard that there is not a Tackle in this years draft TRULY worth a high 1st round pick. No Paces, Bosellis, or Gallery's.

So in the long run maybe. But Gallery didnt even step in as a rookie last year and impresse anyone consistently.

Neither Jordan Gross nor Robert Gallery--both regarded much more highly than any of the LT prospects this year--started at LT their rookie year. Both played RT. So the answer is highly unlikely.

Yea, we can draft centers and guards to play RT. But LT (or weakside, whichever side that is - usually left) is unique. I'm still thinking they are taking the wrong kind of athelete to play LT, If you're 6'5" - 6'8" and 320lbs-
350lbs, how can you possably keep up with someone life Dwigth Freeny or Jevon Kersey - its too much to ask and downright illogical. Its like a center trying to keep up with a point guard.
They need to come up with a new body type & athelete to play LT. This
position needs some evolution like TE has got over recent years. Someone whos strong and at the same time very agile. I dunno, they got to rethink this position or people like DC are gonna keep gettin dumped on their butt
by people like Freeney.

What you bring up is IMO just a demonstration of a weak line in general. If the center of the line will hold a long armed LT like Wand can just ride Freeney or Kerse out of the play most of the time. The trouble comes when there is no pocket to step into and the LT has to truly man up on those guys.

Wand was getting beat on inside moves, bull rushes, or stunts in the 2nd half of the season. I don't question his size or agility...Wand has that. It's his strength and instincts are what's lacking. Will Wand overcome those defencies in '05? Maybe, but I wouldn't want to bet my QB's health on it. Someone must be brought in to provide competition for Wand.

Apparently, the Texans couldn't find that player in FA. The draft is really the only option left. Making Wand the key player for the '05 season is a risky proposition.

I was replying to nunu about body types but frankly would have the same response about this. Long armed body types like Wand can ride a player outside of a play or into another blocker, i.e. Pitts--either way really doesn't matter so long as Pitts is there and he will be IMO if McKinney or the center next to him is solid.
