Default What We Got Here is Failure on the Line.

All this talk about Franks, Sharper, DD, drop it! What we need is to fix the Offensive Line....It BROKE! What do you guys think about them apples?

i think your right on Q. But as we can see so far we havent made any O-Line FA pick-ups. Maybe we will do something with it in the draft, which prolly wont help cause i dont think having a rookie on the line will help carr stay off his back any !

I agree but I don't think there are any linemen left in free agency that could come in and do a better job than any of the linemen we have starting now.

Ya know the one thing the Texans have not tried on the O-line was actually having the same five guys who started one year, start again the next year.

Thats what i believe they plan to do next year and if that dont work out i think they will either bring someone in with a trade in the beginning of the season or give whoever we draft a shot. But i dont think we will see any major changes in the O-Line.

Come on dude have some kinda hope LoL. I don't know too much about how an the O-Line works, but i would imagine that the O-Line would perform better the more time they spend on the field working together. It would only make since that one would play better alongside people they've known for years rather than a different group of people every year.

But, theres only one way to find out and it won't be too much longer (Wishful Thinking... i miss football so much) before we see how it pans out.

with the same blocking scheme

The O-line will be fine, they need time to gel

They started to gel at the end of last season and good pretty good at run blocking but the pass blocking never came together and that's what scares me. The teams that use the zone blocking scheme in the NFL put up some awesome rushing stats but give up a lot of sacks.

Yeah but if the line continues to protect him the way they did last season it could shorten his career.

I agree with you and I am not trying to be negative, I just do not understand how we can put Sharper and Foreman on the trading block and address almost every other need we have in free agency and the draft when IMO the O line needs the most help and that has been since our first season.

I thought the two things CC was gonna focus on this season was a pass rush from the D and QB protection... or maybe it was Bob McNair that said that, which I guess if the BOSS says that...

So, they've been working on the D. Stay tuned for the second half of the off season....

Its amazing how I get criticized for saying much of the above. Yes, McNair did say he wanted protection for Carr. I think the statements that this blocking scheme does not offer much protection for the QB is true. I have also stated its a wast to draft people like AJ and Carr if you are going to use the tools effectively. I still think things were coming together at the end of the 02 season, but unfortunately they changed everything and all of that momentum was lost. We were getting blocking and DD was doing well. I still don't think the new blocking scheme is good for DD. Its suppose to be, but I don't think it has worked out that way. He did well hiding behind his blockers in the old scheme.

Denver gave up 15 sacks in 2004 and 25 in 2003--doesn't seem to be a problem for them.

In otherwords, "all evidence to the contrary, I believe what I believe."

Last 8 games of 2003: 548 yards rushing, 3.9 ypc, 6 TD's rushing, 123 yards receiving and 2 fumbles.

Last 8 games of 2004: 828 yards rushing, 4.6 ypc, 8 TD's rushing, 319 yards receiving, 1 receiving TD and 0 fumbles.

Yeah, the rushing game and DD were clearly coming together better at the end of 2003 than at the end of 2004 with that horrible zone blocking scheme.

Our offensive line was coming together, but we overpaid for wade and alot of other players(Greenwood) that will put us in cap situations. We had the opportunity to add a solid lineman to our line. Wand is ok, Pitts is getting much better at guard, McKinney is still solid but becoming inconsistent, Wade is functional when he is not hurt. So hopefully next year Carr will have at least three seconds to throw the ball.

I dont know if you guys realize that the Colts defense will be better and the Jags will have one hell of a pass rush. the Titans are rebuilding so at least we will stomp them. Our real problem is C. Palmer who calls the worst play at the worst time. He has a talent for it. I mean who runs a 5'8" running back three straight times in the redzone when you have two recievers and a tight end that can outjump damn near any corner. In my opinion if we get more aggressive on offense our line will look a hundred times better. I mean three and four step drops and get rid of it would be nice.
