Default Slaton Declares Himself 100%

If this is true, this would be great news for the Texans. I cant wait to see what they look like in TC.

Hopefully, with his improved health and better O line play the Texans will be in good shape at RB.

Good to hear Slaton is doing well, hoping he bounces back this year big time. Slaton + Tate will be one of the/if not the best RB duos if Slaton produces like he did his rookie year.

Just hope he has a off day against the Raiders .

That's good. The last time he was healthy, he lost 7 fumbles.

Most seem to think that his injury contributed to his fumbles. I was glad to hear that he's back down to his fighting weight, also. Maybe he will be a little quicker to hit the hole and with Tate there to wear down DL's, this could be a good year for the Texans RB corps. I'm excited to see how Jerimiaj\h Johnson does in TC. He could be a beast.

One has to wonder about minor to serious but unknown injuries that effect the play of every guy on the field. Every season is a war of attrition to go along with the plays and scores.

A healthy Slaton is a big thing. With Tate, Slaton, Foster and whoever else makes it, that's a pretty good lineup.

I would be happy with that. At the beginning of the season, I would like to see a heavy Foster/Slaton rotation. Give Slaton a chance to prove he can hold the ball, Give Foster an opportunity to show he isn't a fluke, and give Ben an opportunity to adjust to the speed of the game.

As the season goes on, whoever has consistently made the most of his opportunities gets the most carries.

Decent report and then he throws in a stupid last line about Slaton needing to improve in pass protection to win the starting job. Hey dipshit, he did well enough that he had the starting job and the competition is a rookie and a guy who was on the bench for most of the season because of poor pass protection. Sheesh.

Promising news. The biggest thing for me will be to see how well he holds on to the ball this season, if he drastically improves then maybe there was something to the injury's contribution. The other thing will be to see if being back at his old weight will give him the burst that so many folks on here complained was lacking last season. If he can regain his form and confidence from his rookie campaign then Slate & Tate is gonna be a lot of fun to watch.

Houston sports luck: Cushing injures several of our RBs in training camp.

Glad to hear he's healthy. Now we don't have to worry about the damaged neck nerve costing the fumble-itis anymore. And he shed 15lbs, going back to his 2008 playing weight!

Looking forward to seeing Speedy Slate and Thunder Tate being great in 2010.

Yeah , I just cant see the defense being as good the first four games as it was to close out last season .... they will have to put up a lotta points in those early games.

I don't know how, due to human nature, someone could be the same kind of player after an injury like that - especially at a position where you're getting pounded in the head repeatedly, and lowering your head and taking punishment. How could Slaton not be a little bit timid out there? It just seems unrealistic to expect that he will be.

I mean - I don't want the guy to suffer an even greater injury, as much as I want to see him succeed as a Texan. I'm really going to cringe the first time he gets his face mask tugged on. Ugh.
