We all thought last year that the Texans would have drafted a running back, instead they came out with Arian Foster and Jeremiah Johnson as undrafted free agents.
It seems pretty obvious that the Texans will not be doing that again and somewhere early in the draft they will select a running back. So my question is, who do you think that certain running back will be? Doesn't matter which round, but I've posted seven popular names that could be on the Texans' radar. If you choose Other, please specify who you think it would be. |

I will be happy with a 3rd round back. I may be happy with a second round back based on who else is there. At the moment, I will be very disappointed in a first round back. I think there are far more pressing needs than a first round back.

The more I think about it the more I feel like the Texans will go CB in the first round. I think it's harder to find a good corner than a good running back. Also, let's think about picking a running back in the first round. The back will probably not be a full time back and he'll probably share the backfield with Slaton a lot. On the other hand, a corner like Kyle Wilson will probably play a lot or at least a lot more than the running back would. Therefore, I think there is a better value in picking a back in the second round. I think Jahvid Best or Toby Gerhart will do the job for the Texans. This is just my opinion and of course I could be wrong. But 3 days before the draft that's the vibe I'm starting to get. We need to draft good talent in both positions and I'll be happy even if they do pick a running back in the first round.

Same. I voted for Hardesty but I'd like Dwyer. Hope to heck it isn't Matthews.

I voted Mathews not because he's the back I want, but because it seems like that's why the FO would select if Wilson, Thomas and possibly even McCourty are all off the board in the first.
For my money I'd love to have Kyle Wilson with the first and Tate in the second or third. |

I'm going to laugh when we don't draft a single back.
UFDA all the way. Texans style, baby.

Marion Barber!... I predict that we either trade our 3rd rounder for him, or perhaps we trade our 1st and get Barber and their 2nd... something like that. He's on the block.

probably a guy that no one on this board has put any thought into because they're not getting hype from draft sites, so everyone will call it a terrible pick

I think I see a trend here... we will draft a no-name RB who winds up being a stud with our 4th round pick!!!

IMO it would be okay if 2 of our first 3 picks were used to shore up the interior OL.

That would be horrible...we could get similar production for a LOT less money with Tate, Gerhart or Dixon. Heck...I'd rather spend a first on Best or trade up for Spiller and still save money on a RB than have Marion Barber.

In order for the Texans to get Gerhart, Matthews or Spiller they would more than likely have to use a first round pick on them and I just don't see that happening. I think we could get Dixon in the second or third and even better I would like Charles Scott from Lsu in the later rounds. Charles Scott is going to be a bargin. I doubt we go with a RB in the first...its just not the Kubiak way. I want defense in the first round because we are primarily a passing team and we can get a big RB in the later rounds. I want DT Williams or FS Taylor Mays with the first pick....we can probably even trade down a few spots and still land them.

Perhaps his coaches drew up plays for him to run behind his best protection and that protection was on the left side?

If you watch his longer runs that start up the middle or to the right, he consistently breaks them to the left sideline. Then, the one or two times he does go right, you can see that his entire upper body feels/looks awkward handling the ball and trying to stiff arm with the left arm.
