Per PFT:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-for-a-safety/ No team is more aggressive in trading and acquiring draft picks than the Eagles, and they have two picks in each of the second, third and fourth rounds (plus their first rounder at 24) to play with. If the report that they want a safety is accurate, then we can probably go ahead and cross Earl Thomas off the board. Unless the Iggles get really ornery and make a play for Berry. |

Don't really think we'll have to worry about either Berry or Thomas being available at #20, Eagles or not. Mayock has already promoted Thomas to #1 safety over Berry. Dan Williams will probably be gone also.
We will probably have our choice of RB or CB of #20. I hate the idea of a RB in 1st round because there are really good CB's and RB's available in rounds 2 and 3. I really wish we could trade down for a second plus #3 or #4. Even Linval Joseph is rising into the 2nd and maybe 1st in some mocks along with Mount Cody. |

Well if they want to throw draft picks around I'm a taker.
I'm not so sold on any one prospect that might fall to us that I wouldn't consider trading down and getting extra picks.

our #20 and maybe #187 or #197 for #37, #70, and #105. If Thomas was there, or possibly Mays or even Nate Allen, the Eagles could go get there guy and still keep their 1st at 24 and also their 2nd round pick... They have a ton of picks, so this might be intriguing to them. |

Over the past years when the Eagles bring players into Philly, they draft one or two from that list. Examples of this are Kolb, Jackson, McCoy and Celek.
Following are some, but not all, of the players who have been to Philly. Eric Berry Jerry Hughes Brian Bulaga John Jerry Brian Price Jonathan Dwyer Toby Gerhart Charles Scott As you can see there is one safety on this list, Berry. But do the Eagles give up a heard of picks to move way up to get him? I personally don't think so. I think they brought him in for a look see and will go after him if, and only if he startes to drop. But so will a lot of teams. This is also my thinking on Bulaga. If they stay at their present pick, I think that pick will be Hughes if he is there. Hughes could do for the other side on the line in the pass rush what Trent Cole does and take pressure off Cole. This ia a spot that needs to be addresed. Dwyer, Gerhart, Price, and Jerry are second round look sees. Scott is someone for later on who was hurt last year, but could become a Buckholder type with the Eagles . The Eagles have been reported to have a lot of interest in Ricky Sapp, though he has not come to Philly. Also look for the Eagles to draft a yound QB to develop behind Kolb. The names of those looked at are: John Skelton Fordham Jarrett Brown WVA Zac Roberson Okla. St. I look for the Eagles to trade down more so then up. Deal with a team like the Browns, Bills, or Kansas Cith for their second round pick this year and the first next year. The Eagles have a lot of lower round picks to give up along with the two seconds. The most improtant pick they have in this draft is the pick they got for McNabb. The player taken there will be looked at as this is the guy who we got for McNabb. He better be a player. If they could turn that pick into a first from a bad team next year and it becomes a top 10, this will take a great deal of pressure off the FO in geting something really good for McNabb. Does any of this happen? I have no idea. We find out this week, thank God. Hang in there. It is almost here. |

So you think Dwyer is the 3rd best RB in the draft? Wow.

I think Dwyer is going to be a flop.

Maybe. It doesn't make sense but in some ways it does. I know Tampa Bay is looking to move out and if Philly goes up that high they can grab Eric Berry who is supposed to be the second comming of Ed Reed. Some people have Berry as the number one player but because he is not an OT or QB, he will likely fall. |

I disagree with you. Here's to hoping one of us is right.

I'm not advocating the Texans taking Hardesty. (Too injury prone) DM: I'm somewhere between you and I-cak on Dwyer. Dwyer is a good RB who I believe will be a productive RB. He has ZBS experience under Gailey and did very in it. If Dwyer is there in the 3rd rd I'm for trading up to get him. Dwyer reminds me Shonn Greene. |

I won't say flop, will say we had the very same thing on the roster last year in Cris Brown. And why we'd run helter shelter to squander a two for that I have no idea ?

Here's info related to this thread. I think the Eagles will stay pat and be able to get Mcourty and Dwyer doesn't seem to be starting on the right foot.
NFL | McCoy, Dwyer reportedly fail drug tests Comment (0) Sun, 18 Apr 2010 15:56:58 -0400 Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com, reports Southern California TE Anthony McCoy and Georgia Tech RB Jonathan Dwyer reportedly flunked their drug tests at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to a source. Dwyer allegedly tested positive for amphetamines, but he had clearance to take a prescribed medicine for a medical condition. McCoy reportedly tested positive for marijuana.
