Alright, I know I said I was not going to do one of these this year. But, while thumbing through my rankings, I decided to just post the small school rankings. Right now, I just have them in top 10 format. If people would like, I could go through and assign where I think they should be drafted, or highlight specific players that I think the Texans should look at.

These rankings come from hours upon hours of watching film.

Ryan Periloux was impressive in the limited snaps I saw from him at lsu. havent seen him since but I would take a look at him if I were an nfl team even though he is a headcase.

I created a new list for wildcat/mobile QBs that have developmental upside. I doubt the Texans look at any of these guys, but I would bet around 8 of these guys make it into an NFL camp.

What separates these QBs from the top 10 list (although Edwards does make a repeat appearance) is that these players are not great passers. Yet. Some lack accuracy, some like arm strength, and some lack great decision making ability. However, they all have some upside. Some may be able to fit a Brad Smith type role (NY Jets), others may eventually grow into a true QB.

Also, I am considering doing a spotlight on one of these guys, so keep an eye out.

A Texan scout went up to San Marcos to look at Bradley George. He's a tall QB (6,6) with a big arm and quicker than he looks. He's 27... he played minor league baseball. You would have to bet that he would learn the system quick and be a backup. His arm is better than Schaub's but he is not as accurate. He will be an UDFA for sure with his age.

You are more suited to judge Bradley than I, but I don't think he is worthy of a top 10 spot on the QBs, and is not mobile enough to be in the WildCat rankings.

His age knocks him back, he is about as talented as the last couple guys on the QB list. But a team would rather take a chance on a guy 4-5 years younger with equal skill sets.

He does have a cannon arm though...

For one, I highlighted the wrong guy. I think the Texans look at Mutcher, not Steichen.

Mutcher and Steichen are neck and neck, I had a hard time picking which one I wanted to place first.

Mutcher is more athletically gifted. He can pull with the best of them. He does need to work on pass protection, he seems hesitant. He only has average strength, but he is a fantastic run blocker. He has great technique, and while he does not bulldoze guys he removes them from play. I think the Texans look at him because of his mobility and run blocking prowess.

Steichen may have more upside. He is not as mobile, but he is stronger. Better when not asked to get to the second level. He is adept at cut blocking, should his team need it.

They could both be drafted in the 7th, but I only expect Mutcher to be drafted. Neither of them would contribute immediately, but they could conceivably be ready by 2011, to at least compete. However, they would be decent backups.

I would say he ranks with the top guys on the FCS level, and with a better or just as good of an arm than any of the top guys on the FBS level this year. The knock is his age of course. If he was 22 or 23 he'd be drafted for sure.

I believe he ran a 4.8, so at 6,6 225 pound 27 year old white guy thats pretty good. I would say his mobility is above average but it is painful to see such a large (older) target run up field, running the risk of injury.

I stand by my previous post, and his current place on the small school rankings.

He has a strong arm, thats for sure. But he does not posses anything more than average accuracy. Also, his throws across the middle come out low, meaning they can be tipped or intercepted. I also see him locking onto receivers a lot.

If he was younger, I could see him sliding into the last round. Maybe. But he is 4-6 years older than these guys, and teams would rather take a chance on a guy with upside. George will get into a camp, but unless he really impresses, I dont see him on a roster next year.

I believe they went to his pro day, I am not sure about the official visit.

Armanti Edwards is one of the biggest enigmas in this draft. He has all the athletic ability in the world, but is so small, too small to be a traditional QB. But he is so effective at the position, I hate to classify him as a WR, mostly because I dont know about his hands, and again, he is so small. He would have problems beating the jam, going up for balls, etc.

He does have underrated arm strength. And he has always had good accuracy. Those two traits make me think that maybe, just maybe, he could become a legit QB. But then I worry about his ability to read a defense. He played in a spread style offense, and rarely (if ever) had to drop back and survey the D. Edwards also looks to run first. If the first guy is not open, he is gone.

However, Armanti Edwards is a dangerous man with the ball, and he just wins. I know its cliche, but he wins ball games. In the NFL, he should not be pigeon holed into a position. He should play the Wildcat QB, get some snaps out of the slot, even out of the backfield. One thing I would not do is let him return kicks, I dont think he is that kind of player.

All things considered, I doubt the Texans go after him. In talking with badboy and beerlover about the wildcat, one of them (can't remember which one, my bad guys) brought up that since Kubiak got reamed for the Chris Brown pass, he might be hesitant to go "gimmicky" on offense.

I hope this helps, I need to fix my first post. I have Edwards as my 7th rated QB, it was before I decided to make a separate list for Wildcat players.
