Thought I would give another site people could cherry pick.
It is Draftsite.com They have us taking.... 1. Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee 2. Marshawn Gilyard, WR, Cincinatti 3. Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee 4. Jerome Murphy, CB, South Florida 5. Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida 6a. John Estes, C, Hawaii 6b. Stevie Brown, S, Michigan 7. Travis Goethel, OLB, Arizona State Now obviously a 2nd round WR is unlikely, and Cunningham might be way too low but another view on things is always interesting. Now for the cherry picking to begin. 1. Kyle Wilson, Boise State, CB 2. Jon Asamoah, Illinois, OG 3. Toby Gerhardt, Stanford, RB 4. Arthur Jones, DT, Syracuse 5. Anthony Levine, Tennessee State, S 6a. John Estes, C, Hawaii 6b. Leigh Tiffin, Alabama, K 7. Sam Young, Notre Dame, OT

The correct answer is Owen Daniels. That tells me there is still work to be done in our WR corps. Don't get me wrong, I love the talent and potential we've got at that position. But for the most part, that's what we have potential. So I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a WR in the second round, especially if he is a second round WR. Quote:

I think Walter is a legit #2 receiver, he has really stepped up when AJ missed time. Jacoby is getting closer to producing consistently enough to be considered as the #2.

Why get another WR when we have other areas that need to be addressed like CB, OG/OC, FS, DT,or RB.

I wouldn't be very happy with a WR in any of the first 3 rounds unless he was by far the bpa. Far too many holes on this defense right now, and with a weak free agency group we can't afford to mess around.

No one is a fan of Jerome Murphy? I would have no problem if he was our 2nd rounder much less 4th.

I am not near as knowledgeable about the players as many of ya'll, but based on the team needs:
1. Best DT available. Dan Williams, Brian Price, or Jared Odrick. 2. Nate Allen, S. 3. Brandon Ghee, CB. 4. Ben Tate, RB. 5. Syn'Quan Thompson, CB or best OG available. 6a. John Estes, C. 6b. Leigh Tiffin, K. 7. Hey it's round 7. Either another kicker, Aaron Pettrey, or Robert Vaughn, S (the man from U.N.C.L.E.!!!) From the little I've read sounds like Brian Price might be better at helping vs the pass and the run, Dan Williams better against the run. In reality, I don't think I could pass on Kyle Wilson in the 1st round - but in "cherry picking" mode knowing we can get Allen and Ghee (and still get Tate for RB) this also addresses DT. |

I'll play
20 Dan Williams DT Tennessee 51 Kareem Jackson* CB Alabama 82 Lamarr Houston DT Texas 119 Marshall Newhouse OG TCU 151 Deji Karim RB Southern Illinois 188 Donovan Warren* CB Michigan 198 Lonyae Miller RB Fresno State 228 Shelley Smith OG Colorado State Not that I want to draft DT in the 1st but Williams is BPA, added Houston in the 3rd both guys can help our team be better. Houston is a pass rush DT, Williams is more a NT type. Jackson has played in a man system, is a solid player and a steal at our 2nd pick. Warren is a raw junior who is a stud against the run, had an ankle injury when he ran at the combine. Newhouse might earn playing time this season, Smith is a sleeper in this mock, should go much higher in the real draft. Finally Karim is a fireplug, 5-9 205. Has 4.4 speed and is a low to the ground type guy. should be a steal. Miller is 5-11 1/2 216 a 4.5 guy. Solid platoon guy, ran a 1 cut and go offense in college. |

just shows how utterly simplistic this exercise has become. its hard enough to put together one round little lone a full 7 rounds. its a gigantic undertaking to be accurate somebody would have to pay me for the time to research it despite my passion & love for the draft.
once again the draft will be here & all these questions will have their answers |

All I'm saying is if the Texans draft a bonafide 2nd round WR, I wouldn't be terribly upset. I love KDub, but he isn't an explosive playmaker. We can cross our fingers, and hope Jacoby becomes the guy we thought he would be. Or, we can draft a new guy to be that guy.

How about this one then, big uglies everywhere....
*26 Kyle Wilson CB Boise State 51 Mike Johnson OG Alabama 82 Lamarr Houston DT Texas *90 Linval Joseph* DT East Carolina 119 Marshall Newhouse OT TCU **131 Ben Tate RB Auburn 151 Deji Karim RB Southern Illinois 188 Kam Chancellor S Virginia Tech 198 Donovan Warren* CB Michigan 228 Keiland Williams RB LSU *CB has the biggest, and longest impact for a team, I trade down with the Cards (26) and grab one of their 3rd round picks (90). ** trade New Orleans a 3rd in 2011 for pick number 131. I added to solid DTs to add to the rotation, Houston can also rush the passer. Johnson is a solid OG can be a LG. Newhouse is a RG prospect with a high ceiling. Tate and Karim are a solid platoon with Slaton, Karim is a sleeper IMO. Chancellor is not the kid from Texas, but he is a solid player and looked good at the Shrine game. Warren is young (raw) and ran at the combine with an ankle injury, reinjured it at the his pro day. Williams is a big body platoon guy. IMO this is an A+ draft. That would be nice I must admit, however I wouldn't bank on a trade down.

I'd love some more picks too, this draft is solid through rounds 3-4.
I think there is less value early, but plenty of middle round value.
