Rd 1, Pick 20 (20) Kyle Wilson: CB, Boise State
Rd 2, Pick 19 (51) Nate Allen: FS, South Florida Rd 3, Pick 17 (81) Mike Johnson: OG, Alabama Rd 4, Pick 20 (118) Anthony Dixon: RB, Mississippi State I only did the first four rounds as I don't know much about the late prospects in this year's draft class. Feedback is much appreciated. |

My gut reaction is that I don't want to see us go DB in the first two rounds.

Just personally, I would be happy hitting FS and CB in the top three rounds, but the first two seems like a big investment in one area of the team when I think we need help on the OL/RB and at DT.
If we got Wilson in the first, then grab our RB in the second and a FS in the third, then OL in 4th maybe. I guess ultimately you pick value with what falls but if I was to wish list this is what I would look to.

Brown-Studdard- New Guy or Myers- Brisiel or Caldwell or Johnson- Eric. And the other thing is Johnson's 5.4 forty. We got no lineman that slow. None. Unless we're switching once again and abandoning the ZBS ? I like Johnson but he is a poor choice for this scheme.

I agree with TTP, I think we need to take either a OL or RB in the first three rounds... maybe even both to give the run game a good shove in the right direction.

Honestly Mike Johnson is the one player on that list I haven't seen much game tape on. Lots of scouts are touting him as one of the best ZBS Guards in this draft class, so that's primarily the reason why I have him on here.

With Brisel coming back, Pitts maybe coming back, Mike Johnson, and our FA acquisiton, we should be able to form a decent line with good depth. Plus I think a bigger guy like Dixon should be able to smash through on some 3rd and shorts. He is a guy who will punish defenders if they give him the chance. |

He's great and he gets a push with his initial step. You're always going to have that two feet bulge where he is at.....BUT....he ain't getting to the second levels at 5.4 and knocking people into the ground. I mean if we're changing fine. Nothing wrong with the player, he just doesn't fit.

I would like it. The secondary goes from a weakness, to a strength, and young at that. I would replace Johnson with Walton, and I still dont really like Dixon. Maybe take a DT here, then Lonyae Miler in the 5th.

I like the first 2 picks but I'm not sure Allen falls to us at 51. I have to agree with TTP about Johnson though. Before the Combine he was touted as being the best ZB Guard in the Draft, but after the Combine, he has dropped considerably, and his 40 time of 5.4 is not good for a ZB OG. Not sure about Dixon either. He may be too slow also. A 4.61 at his Pro Day may not be enough. Wish they showed his 10 yd time and shuttle times. They may be more of an indication.

Once the Texans signed Wade Smith I don't think they are desperate to sign any ol in the first. I do think cb is a possibility but that is one of the deepest positions in the first 3 rounds of the draft. So much so that you just about can get as good of cb in the 3rd as the 1st. That is why I don't want cb in the 1st. I believe it will come down to these players with the 20th pick unless someone really special free falls to us.
Earl Thomas Dan Williams Kyle Wilson Mike Iupati Ryan Mathews And don't rule out Sean Weatherspoon, Taylor Mays or Maurkice Pouncey if the other guys are all gone. Heck I don't even rule out Charles Brown being drafted and moved inside or Nate Allen next best fs in the draft. Remember the Texans took Duane Brown when most thought he should be a 3rd rounder. And yes I know about San Diego saying they were going to take him if the Texans hadn't. Sometimes draft stock on a player moves up because demand is so high at that players position and/or there has been an incredible run in the draft on players at said position. |

If our draft went down like this I'd be thrilled but I don't think it's realistic. Wilson in the 1st is great, but Allen most likely won't be available at our pick in the 2nd, he'll probably go late 1st or very early 2nd. I also have my doubts that Anthony Dixon falls to the 4th round, I think he goes in the late 2nd or 3rd round. |
