I know thats a concern for all rookies, but I think it is more of a concern for big boys in the trenches.

And yet here you are watching again. Sorry Texecutioner, I could not pass that up. You don't like early mocks but obviously many of us do. But we have had this discussion before.

I think we ALL have this concern. The only players that have workd for us in the first round are Andre Johnson, Mario Williams, and Brian Cushing (we can make a case for Duane Brown but I still need to see more from him).

We can't afford another first round bust and the 2010-2011 season is a do or die year for us.

Its the offseason - Kubiak already got an extension so we have to have something to talk about.

As for the accuracy of the mocks here - You'd be surpirsed. Some of these will be closer to the truth now than what many media outlets put out closer to the draft.

I hear you. It's just so hard to tell with anything right now. SO much changes once the combine starts and the pro day work outs and throughout all of the interviews. Guys can go from 1st round picks to 3rd round picks in a matter of a month once all of that starts.

I have a huge concern there for Williams as he has a documented history of being lazy and unmotivated.

One of the reasons I favor Price is because he seems to be the opposite. He contributed as a freshman, became a starter his soph year, and put up two very productive years before declaring. He had another year of eligibility left so it's not like he had his whole future riding on this season like Williams, who was a senior.

Price:
14 TFL and 4.5 sacks in his first year as a starter
23.5 TFL and 7 sacks this past year as a junior

Williams:
6.5 TFL and 2 sacks in his first year as a starter
8.5 TFL and 1.5 sacks as a junior
9 TFL and 2.5 sacks as a senior

Not real thrilled about the UCLA guy. But it does fit the Bill Kollar mold. He still is the d-line coach right ?

Bill Kolar is still the defensive line coach and I am also not thrilled about Brian Price but we shall see at the combine. I know their are some people on this board that are tired of hearing about drafting big DT but what if we could draft Kade Weston from Georgia or Cam Thomas from UNC.

Weston had a fairly decent career at Georgia and is 6'5" 325-lbs. I like his height and from what I have seen he can handle offensive line and get to the action.

Cam Thomas is a little short but big 6'3" 330-lbs and during the North-South game (whatever thats called) he looked good during the drills and I saw him drive linemen into the dummies.

Tyson Alualu is 6'3" 290-lbs who plays DT but also played a little DE. He has a high motor but gets taken out of the action at times. However, he looks quicker on tape and can get up the field and to the QB.

I like Cam Thomas alot as a NT. I dont know about a 2nd round grade though, thats a bit high for someone with his lack of production. I would take him in the 5th though, maybe the 4th.

Saw an article in the chron from Lance Zierlein (Z Report) titled, NFL Draft: Whispers from the scouts. This is what he said about Price:

• Another player who will start to fall down the board for draft pundits and websites is UCLA DT Brian Price. I recently re-watched Price against Rutgers in UCLA's bowl game and he certainly didn't look like a first rounder when he was lined up at the 3-technique tackle spot. I did, however, think he looked quicker and more effective when he was playing the tilt-NT spot. Still, he has a tendency to get pushed out of the play too often and most of the people I've spoken with have him behind both Dan Williams of Tennessee and Jared Odrick of Penn State. Mark my words, mock drafts by reputable pundits will start to move him down their boards fairly soon.

LZ isn't right all the time but he does have good connections in the NFL. Just food for thought.
