It's easy to show "good sportsmanship" when you win............although that's even been questionable in the past.

After all the hard work and effort put in to make it to the super bowl and then lose, I'd head straight for the locker room myself. I don't see the big deal here either.

Just Manning haters looking for a reason to *****! He was right, it was the Saints stage, let them have it. IF he had taken the time to hunt down Brees someone would have accused him of tring to steal the moment. He did the right thing.

I'm a huge Manning hater (unabashedly), but I don't see anything wrong with him leaving the field. If it was a regular season game, that's one thing. Letting the Saints celebrate the Super Bowl victory is a whole other matter.

Hmmm, I am not a Manning hater but seems like you should do what is customary and this sounds like the hollow excuse of a child. His Mangina was hurt so he walked off sulking.

I don't blame them for not doing the after game congratulating. However, there's no doubt Jughead's mangina was puffy red from the loss.

If my opinion of Manning is correct, all this is going to do is make him that much more determined next season, which is NOT good news for Texan fans. And again, I couldn't care less about if he congradulated Brees or not after the game. He said he was going to call him, which by my thinking is good enough.

:Roger Staubach. Manning was probably on the phone talking to Andre Johnson...congratulating him on the beginning of the Texan Era in the AFC South. It's time baby. It's time.

Peyton doesn't give 2 cents for what is "customary."
He rarely even congratulates his own teammates when they catch TD passes. He generally just walks over to the sidelines. |

And throws little hissy fits when something doesn't go his way (ie his act after their place kicker missed a field goal).

He acted this way when we beat them too. I don't know about going over to Brees but go over to one of the Saints and shake a hand, do something. Here's to hoping we send him to the locker room like that one day.

I remember LeBron James did something like this after the Cavs lost to the Magic in the Semifinals last year. The media had a hissy fit over him leaving the court without talking to reporters and people were saying he was a poor sport. It's not exactly the same, since it wasn't the finals, but close.
I just don't think there is an issue here though. After every regular season and playoff game you see the coaches shaking hands, but not QBs/RBs/WRs/etc. It's not the norm as far as I'm concerned. I don't remember Brady congratulating Eli Manning, or Warner shaking Rothlisberger's hand last year. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but I wouldn't hold it against them if they just wanted to hit the showers to get out of there.

What is the big deal?Watching the coverage, Brees was on people's shoulders, doused in water and celebrating in a mob. From the ones I read, Peyton's comments after the game were classy and took nothing from the Saints. They didn't want to fight through the massive crowds and ruin the celebration.
I respect Manning a ton but never was a huge fan.(seemed to yell at guys like it was always their fault, ala Marino) Like him more than I did. This is a non-story.

It's not a big deal or least it shouldn't be but it is very Manning. It is what it is - he sulks, he looks for special favor from the refs, he blows up on the sidelines, etc. and he is the best in the game currently.

Oh yeah, as I said, his surliness towards teamates, etc reminds me of Marino in games...if it is complete, it was a great pass. If it is incomplete, alot of pointing at the WR and telling him to finish his route, etc. What is scary is that I think he has improved on this alot and I like him more now. But still not a fave, just respect.
