Default Offseason Outlooks: Houston Texans

Quote:
he Fantasy Source staff continues to examine the offseason outlooks for each NFL team with a look at the Houston Texans.

Who's hot?

Andre Johnson, Houston Texans
WR Andre Johnson. Ho-hum, just another league-leading season for Johnson. He finished with 101 catches for a league-high 1,569 yards to go with nine TDs. It was the second straight season he has led the way in receiving yards and he'll be a good bet to do it again with a healthy Matt Schaub under center in 2010. There used to be some debate whether Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald should be the first receiver taken in fantasy drafts, but with Kurt Warner retiring, the clear answer is Andre.

QB Matt Schaub. In 2009, Schaub not only proved he can stay healthy, but also that he can be an elite fantasy QB. In his first 16-game season, Schaub threw for a league-high 4,770 yards and finished in the top seven in six other categories, including TD passes (29). There is some concern that Schaub's numbers will regress in 2010 under new offensive coordinator Rick Dennison if the Texans focus more on the run as planned. But with weapons like Johnson and Owen Daniels, Schaub should remain a top QB1.

Who's not?

Who's hurt?

Slaton may need surgery to repair nerve damage in his neck, but he's expected to be 100 percent for camp even if he has the operation. ... Daniels tore his ACL and landed on IR, but should be 100 percent by training camp. ... DE Tim Bulman (shoulder), TE Joel Dreessen (shoulder) and C Chris Myers (shoulder) will all have surgery in the offseason, while OT Duane Brown (knee) will have arthroscopic surgery. LG Chester Pitts (knee), RG Mike Brisiel (foot) and FS Eugene Wilson (knee) all landed on IR in 2009, but are expected to be ready for 2010, although Pitts is a free agent.
