On NFL Network, after Favre's press conference, when the cameras went back to the set, Rich Eisen was talking as if a player died last night. He sounded very distraut and almost at a lost for words and then Deion came out and said..........
"Why are you so sad????" I loved every part of that because Rich Eisen knew right there that he had been caught showing his favoritism. Then Michael Irvin even pointed out how Steve Maricucci had "moist eyes". Both Deion and Irvin called them out saying they were focusing on the wrong thing. Focusing on Brett Favre losing and not New Orleans going to their first Super Bowl. I'm so glad they did that. I'm not a fan of the Saints but I do remember how bad that team has been over it's 43 year history. Keep in mind this season was only their fourth appearance in the playoffs and only like their 4th win in the playoffs ever. On top of that, their city was part of the worse storms ever in the history of our country and 4 years later they are going to the Super Bowl. But, let's just keep talking about how Brett Favre may not ever play a game again. |

Wow. How lame.
I, too, am not a Saints fan. But it was nice to think that those fans finally get to see their team play for a title, and all the two goobers on NFLN could do was make it about Brett Favre. Pretty sad. Congrats to Saints fans.

I'll be thrilled to see the Favre train finally derail but I know this will only get dragged out.......

I'm curious. I like football in general and enjoy a good game by any team. When it get to specifics, most of my attention goes to the Cowboys and the Texans, so, I'm not really understanding the Favre hate. I recall a few years ago, that he played either before or shortly after his father's funeral and seemingly everythought he was the strongest player in the league. Of course then, he's old according to a football career, which seems like another plus. What happened for him to descend from hero to goat? If nothing more, it should be an humble reminder to all athletes that in any given season, love doesn't live here anymore.

It's gonna suck hearing about favre all summer long. I wanted the Vikings to go ahead and win it all so he would retire, but once he threw the pick, I knew exactly what was going to happen. And I laughed the whole time. Couldn't happen to a better guy.

The Saints defense played well, Peterson couldn't hold on to the football. The saints could have won WITHOUT officials giving them an assist...that's all I'm saying. I like Favre. Congrats to N.O. Go Colts.

After reading comments from another board last night, I checked one of the Vikings boards, and some of them are calling for a Peterson trade. I guess if worse comes to worse, Jerry would at least entertain the idea.

He is maddening. He looks so good one minute, then looks awful the next. High high's and low low's.

True the focus should be more on the Saints win than Favre losing, but the commentators should be called out for that since it's their doing, not Favre's. Minnesota begged, and finally Favre said yes. He is still good, and better than many almost half his age. On the other hand, if he is personally promoting self, then that's another issue. |

Screw the Saints. Their fans showed no class at the preseason game and New Orleans is a cesspool anyway. They got their FEMA checks, they got their charitym, they got their perpetual welfare state, they got their lobby against Texas allowing casinos, now they need to get the hell out of our city and our state....and stay out. New Orleans is an open sewer of a city...even before Katrina. At least Katrina gave it a much needed scrubdown.
If New Orleans is so freaking great, go back and never come back. Till then stop murdering Houstonians, stop bringing your gangs to our cities, and stop bringing your human trash to our city and our state. We don't need it. Next time feel free to build a city above sea level....just sayin. I feel bad for the victims of Katrina but screw New Orleans. They took a dump on our city and the stench has never left...and neither have the Saints bandwagon fans. Here is to seeing Peyton make them their prison wench.

They did not distract coverage or props away from the Saints, and if you watched the entire two hour+ post game show, they gave a lot of love and coverage to the Saints. Favre is a HoF QB, and he's good for the league. I'm not getting the hate, either, much less the rush to revel in the Viking's loss. I saw the clip live, as well, and thought it was Deion just being Deion. He and Irving were crying the week before when the Cowboys got spanked, but now he feels the need to be a big d-bag hypocrite? He's an analyst now, but he seems to think that he could still play. It's all ego. Sanders is just butt-hurt because Favre beat his favorite team the week before. |

But that's not why all that hate is out there. The hate is out there because of the way he's acted wrt retirement. For several years, he held the Packers by the throats and shook them. He couldn't make up his mind and then he retired and then unretired and then retired and then unretired and so on and so forth. It really hamstrings a team if they don't know if they need to go after a QB or not and whether they need to make cap space for this old vet or not. And when they stopped wanted to have their him bounce them around like that, he wanted to go to their biggest rival just to show them how they should have let him continue jerking them around. He couldn't go there his first year after leaving so he retired again after the season so he could unretire and go to the team he wanted to go with from the start. The guy just seems like a jerk. And I think that's where the hate comes from. |

Brett made alot of folks mad with all that stuff with the Pack and then vascilating on the retirement.
It's perpetuated by all the media obsession with all that and Brett feeds on that kind of stuff. He may be just a big ole country kid but he likes all the glamour that comes with being as big a name NFL player as he is and he got a terminal case of "LOOK AT ME" disease a long time ago. But he is fun to watch; he has fun playing and I think you have to balance the two with Brett. You get sick of him but at the same time you want to watch him play football. |

And I've never understood about why people can't understand at why it would take a guy his age a while to make a decision. And half the people that are so angry about it aren't even Packers fans and even if so, I think they should be more angry with the organization over it rather than blaming him. And everyone acts like he hurt the Packers by all of this. He hasn't hurt the Packers ever by it. Those two seasons where he couldn't decide for a while and then decided shortly before the season he came and that was that. How did that hurt the team? It didn't. It just took him a while to decide and annoyed other fans, but it didn't hurt their team any. And then the last year he pulled it where they didn't want him anymore they already had Rodgers and they let go of Favre and got to trade him to a team that he didn't even want to go to in the AFC. If anything the Packers got something for Favre in return and got him out of the NFC for that season, so the Packers benefited from Favre more than they got hurt by Favre. And why people can't understand that Favre would want to go to a team that had a great chance at winning a SB is silly. What player his age would want to go to some bottom feeder? No player would unless they needed the money really badly. Minnesota was a perfect fit for him, and if GB didn't want him than they had no right to complain whether that was their division rival or not. I wouldn't fault any Texans player that wanted to go play for the Colts or the Titans if the Texans didn't want to resign them. What the hell are they supposed to do? Avoid any team to appease the Texans when the Texans no longer wanted them anymore? I don't think so. Players are supposed to do what's best for them just like organizations do what's best for them. Favre was no longer wanted in GB after taking so long, so he wanted to leave and he played a tough season for the Jets as a punishment for taking forever. If anything he should be commended for grinding it out for a team that he didn't want to play for and playing through a tough injury instead of being bashed for it. Minnesota wanted the guy really badly, and he wanted a chance to play for another ring so they were a nice match. He went there and had another magical season. I enjoyed watching him play all year long I sincerely hope he comes back again next year so I can see some of those amazing plays that he makes. Thanks for a great season to watch Favre. |

People can get so emotional about things that have absolutely no impact on their lives.
If you're a Packers fan, maybe I can understand the emotion. But everyone else chooses to hate a person/situation that should not have any meaning in their lives. It's just entertainment at the end of the day. "oohhhh, I'm so mad that Christopher Nolan might not be Batman after the next movie." It's the same difference to me.
