that would be sweet. I could see in our nickel coverage. McCree would then step in at FS and Coleman would line up on the 2nd or 3rd receiver with Wright on the 4th or however.. Looks like a major improvement from last years.. In my eyes

Great post. I am so glad to here McRee is back. I think a few people tried to underrate his ability. I have never said he was great, but I have always thought he was a solid player. Our secondary has just improved drastically. We have backups who have started and starters that are good. Opposing QB's won't want to play us by the end of the year.

Yeah, our secondary should be much improved. Hopefully, our starting DL of Smith,Payne, and Walker stays healthy. Babin and Peek will make some impact.

well here at tech he was a FS...not a corner...and a very good one at that...keep in mind he's sloppiness as you put is do from lack of response time...as a safety that responce time increases...so i would think his transition should be seemless since he's played the position for years...he has the right size and speed for this position...as for corner his size was great but he did lack the 4th gear to keep up with the speed recievers...as a FS he should be a much improved player overall

very true. personally, I thought our secondary wasn't as bad as the stats show. What I saw was basically a basic defense that was nothing more than a bend but don't break type. I say that I didn't think the secondary was that bad because we played with a DL that missed it's main players and QB's would have time to scan their options, tie their show and then throw. I don't care who you have back in the secondary, if you give an NFL qb that much time he will find the mistakes in coverage. Along with that, our shut down corner was injured on and off during the season.. That is alot to ask of a secondary that is in it's 2nd year of a system and McCree didn't come in until the start of the 2nd year. If I am not mistaken, with our lack of pressure, we played alot of zone.

I didnt think the secondary was a problem either. I thought the problem was on 3rd and 9 the QB would have approximently 1 entire minute to throw the ball.

All I know is Mcree returned a Steve Mcnair interception for like 80 yards last year and put us right back in the game. I will always remember him for that and I am glad he is back on the team.
However, we did give up a game winning touchdown that game due to lack of pressure and failure to respond on the last throw so there was some inconsistency going and I think that will be worked out this year. |

yeah the 95 yd int return was great...it was my first texan game to see live...i was on the titan bench side 3rd row and totally got on to mcnair for that one...it was great...the best part is when they announced it was the longest play in texan history you could see mcnair shutter...it's great that he's back on the team...we can use him for more than just a back up FS...he can take over the starting SS spot if brown gets hurt...he can be a nickel or a dime back...he's a real versitle player that will help this team out a lot

Does anybody know how long we signed McCree for?

We drafted defensively, but perhaps the biggest change defensively is in the coaching ranks. I think people were quietly let go and you will see a very much more aggressive defense this year based on the new coaches and their attitudes. I think we will surprise a lot of people this year if we are healthy. I think we will potentially shut some people down who don't expect it. My biggest concern is the offense and can we score points. We did better last year, but we can help the defense by putting more points on the board. This could be a very exciting year. We have some new teachers on the defensive side of the ball and it will intersting to see their approach. I have a feeling we are going to be very happy with our new defensive staff.

Im happy. This is great depth for the defense. Not only can McCree back-up safety, he can step in and allow Coleman to replace an injured corner if needed.

I went to sleep last night thinking about the possibilities this brings. I was thinking with the playing time Demarcus got last year, and with Mcree back, our nickle and dime packages are going to be great and will allow Capers to get creative with coverages and blitzes. I am very interested in seeing how our secondary does this season.
