I believe he is an unrestricted free agent. Questions to the experts here:

1. Can he be franchised? (i think not)

2. What would be a reasonable guess as to what kind of contract he might get? I would assume he would be paid at least as much as what we gave Smith.

3. What are our chances of getting him and how would he fit in here?

Personally, i think he would be a huge addition for the defense and would allow us to focus our draft choices on OL and RB, to get a running game.

He can be franchised and likely will be. He'll get a bigger contract than Antonio Smith and will probably go to a 3-4 team from what I've read.

I think even for Crazy Al renting a player for a year for a #1 draft pick is too dumb for even him. I'd expect him to be tagged when it's all said and done.

He will definitely be slapped with a franchise tag. I would love for the Raiders to franchise and then trade him. I think its fairly obvious he doesn't want to be there, and I doubt he'll be productive if he his forced to stay in Oakland any longer.

Will Al do that though? Nah, that makes too much sense.
