Josh Cribbs wants to be traded from the Browns

I don't blame him either. Who do the Browns think they are? They think they can lowball their best player? 1.4 million annually for a player of Cribbs' caliber is a joke. Especially when its from a team like the Browns who need to pay a premium to get quality players on their team.

i'm not saying break the bank for cribbs but he's worth a little more than 1.4 mil. but on cribbs end he has to show that he's more than a one-trick pony and become a better reciever. imo

WOW that would be awesome if we could get him. Simply amazing. What sort of trade do you think it would take? A 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounder? A player and a pick? I'd suspect he wants a similar contract to Deven Hester.

It came right after the season AJ was injured, and AD filled in nicely - 33 receptions averaging over 17 yards each. He also returned 3 Kickoffs for TD's, and finished in the top 5 in kickoff return avg.

Unforturnately, it shouldn't have been hard to see his role as a WR being virtually eliminated by AJ's pending recovery, and you never know when the Kick Return skills will prove to be gone.

It's easy to see why it was done, but it's also easy to see that the non-productivity of AD since then shouldn't be very surprising.

Yeah Holmgren, teams don't need guys that play like 10 positions, play hurt, go all out every play and who score about once in every 3 touches.

I wouldn't give anything higher than a 3rd rounder for him. He went undrafted and signed as a UDFA.

Unless they just don't plan on getting him more involved in the offense, I think a contract similar to Davis might still be a little low but probably around those terms would be about right.

I think if Cribbs' camp chilled out for a few while Holmgren gets the rest of the FO sorted out and makes a decision on whether to keep Mangini or not he'll be able to work out a better deal.

That's an interesting thought and I love it. Davis could probably do more as a WR for them than Cribbs and he also is able to assume KR duties (not PR). Plus, you know Cleveland would love to have an extra 4th rounder to help build their team.

Cribbs has not had the success as a WR for them (20 rec for 135 yds last year) but he also rushed the ball for them (55 carries for 381 yds). We all know his ability as a KR and PR. I think in an offense like the Texans, we'd be able to feed him the ball more than the Browns were able, and he'd have more success.

Adding him would negate Jacoby's abilities as a punt returner though. I feel Jacoby has really progressed as a WR for us but I expect him to grow in that role more this offseason. There's the chance he becomes our #2 whether Walter is here or not... or I at least think he'll get more looks than any other season. I'd feel better about Jacoby giving up his PR duties if he's seeing the field more as a WR (reduces the chances of injury). Of course if Cribbs tweaks a hammy or something, Jacoby could fill in. I don't typically like giving up draft picks but Cribbs is young, a gamechanger, and I was advocating using a comperable pick on a similar style player anyways!

Give Rick a call for me and tell him its a greenlight.

The guy signed a 6 year extension in 06. Not seeing how Cribbs has any real leverage other than holding out. I would be silly for the FO to give him a market deal with 3 years left on his contract no matter how good he is.

When will some of these agents get some of the blame for not structuring performance escalators in these deals or for letting these guys sign 6 year deals after their rookie seasons.

I loved watching him destroy the Steelers defense. I would love to see what he could do in our offense as a wild cat quarterback.

Plus it would allow Jacoby to focus 100% on being a WR.

Its funny because if they try to trade him they'll probably ask for a 2nd round pick plus more and end up paying those picks as much as what Cribbs is asking for.

Cribbs still has three years left on his contract. Nobody pointed a gun at his head to sign the contract he now has. Cribbs was promised by Savage that his contract would be reviewed at the end of last year. Savage got fired. Mangini told Cribbs that he would review Cribb's contract at the end of this season. Now Holmgren has been in place for less than a week with many more important decisions GM, Scouting, ect. to worry about.

Cribbs and his agent are posturing. He will get signed to an improved contract before next season and will be back busting returns as he should be. He will not get Hester money, probably 2.5-3.0 a year. Not bad money for a guy all teams decided wasn't good enough to be drafted.
