It's a gradual process. Every year we have certain things happen that get "enshrined" in our collective psyche. Every year a few sayings get coined. Some are epic and stick, others don't make it. I try to grab a couple every season and add them to the list. Someday I'll publish a coffee table book or something. I'll work on some of these tonight when I get home from work. Good stuff guys. Good stuff.

There's at least two of my entries (above) that should have ben rep'd by you guys by now.

I'm a little miffed about it, actually. So let's pick up the pace and send me my rep. POSITIVE rep, you jokers.

FOK'er is my creation, as is Nigerian Daydream. I think podium tapping should be included as well.

Herv. Here is the definition of settlers as defined by Breaze in response to a chronicle article a few weeks back.

If we get knocked out of the playoffs next week the Pat's are toast. That's when Kubes gets serious...history approved. Start slow, finish strong... consistently inconsistent; Jekyll & Hyde. If Kubes gets his way and stays, we could be staring at Groundhog's Day. Yes this is hating as some of you labeling types like to point out, but its hating to lose...hating to underachieve, hating more of the same while talent rots on the vine. Kind of true fan'ish don't you think? Why get so wrapped up in labels? Its ok for a true fan to demand more given the talent. Maybe we should add new label to the so called true fan..."settlers". The passive types that enjoy getting lunch money taken from them every year, living in the land of what if's, are incapable of seeing what's in front of them, and who can't accept things for what they are... bottom line, we are all fans so we are all..."gulp", the same. Now flip this season and hire some "proven" winners McNair...no more experiments, no more excuses, its time to take the big leap before its too late...

Default Re: Texans Fan Dictionary

"Loose" "Loosers" - Words repeatedly typed on message boards and blogs used to describe the Texans, their players and their fans. Used more during the Capers era than now. By context, meant to reflect more losses than wins, or someone who loses more than they win. As it relates to fans, somehow suggests that those who root for teams that lose take on the characteristics of the team that lost, even though they do not go on the field or have much to do with what happens there.

Term tends to reflect negatively on the person using it as it suggests that they are uneducated and oft impolite boobs.

"Matt Lionheart" or various derivatives of same. - Quarterback that some Texan fans wish they drafted in 2006. Also can be used to refer to a fan who considers themselves an expert on the draft, knows exactly what players they have to have on their team, but can't even spell the guy's name.

"It" The special something that allows a player to win, even if they are sitting on the bench for most of the season for being emotionally unstable, unprofessional and lazy.

"Cushhawk" The haircut that Brian Cushing got from his teammates that he was good with because it help make him one of the guys. He kept it because he was playing like a badass, and well, it's not as hot as long hair.

"A Haircut" (1) An NFL team accomplishing something totally basic and making a big deal about it. Related to "Here's a Cookie!" (2) Making a big deal stupid bet to cut your hair if your team wins two games in a row, but not really cutting much off because your wife likes it, and you are so smitten about her that you almost quit football in college because you missed her.

"It's on me." What Kubiak says after losses. Fans make a big deal about it, and the players like that he keeps his issues with them inside the organization. The coach speak words that replaces Capers' "execute."

"The Peyton" He is a witch. The Colts can put all sorts of garbage players around him and he continues to win and never gets hurt enough to be pulled out of games. He eats human hearts of opposing fans to stay on the field. Even from the bench, he can make quirky things happen on the field that result in Colts victories, like turning Ryan Moats into a newt. Moats got better. It was only for an instant at the goal line, and quick enough that it didn't show up in slo-mo.
