"Petey" was also the inspiration for a famous quote by Coach Boone: "You're killin' me, Petey!"

"Tacks" - as their logo looks like a thumbtack.

"Flaming Meatballs" - as their logo also looks like a meatball with a flame coming off of it.

Brown Out-Works for me, it refers to Chris/Kris Browns ability to

A. turn the ball over/miss FG's at the most inopportune time. there costing the Texans important games/playoff opportunities.

B. Settlers- Kubes settled for a long FG by K.Brown with the game on the line. Or We're improving because this years 8-8 is better than last years 8-8. We've made great strides to improve to 9-7 over last years 8-8 (even though this years 9-7 was against an easy schedule) would be another example of settling. If you're a Texan fan.

C. Kubes inabiliy to look at FG's with the gamon the line? Could you stand to look at a K.Brown FG attemt with the game on the line?

Against the out of my seat and started heading for the exit because I knew what was going to happen.

Not sure that this is a Texans-only reference, but a good rule-of-thumb one anyway...

ESPiN - References the Connecticut-based 4-letter network that has morphed into little more than a hype factory. It came to prominence in Texans lore when the Texans elected to pick a certain Defensive End from NC State over the once-in-a-lifetime RB talent from a much more glorified program at USC. If that weren't enough, the Texans were also lambasted for passing (pun-intended) on the greatest home-state talent at QB the world had ever known. (see additional references to VY-effect)

How about one for "Run Run Pass Punt" - The Dom Capers offensive philosopy

or

"The Script" - The unchangeable list of plays that the coach will use despite:
a) Who is playing
b) How well its working
c) anything not covered by a or b

This turn of phrase was made popular during the David Carr (Aka Ocho Stinko, see above) era in which he was frequently sacked. David Carrs inability to remain upright in the pocket was attributed to a porous offensive line that allowed even marginal defenders the chance to hit our "franchise" quarterback. As such, frequent tweaks and changes were made to the lineup, which usually resulted in disappointing results. Optimists would respond to the criticism by claiming "They need time to gel"--a Texans fan favorite--which implied that with a few more weeks of suckage, the play would soon start to improve. Sadly, we never saw proof of this. Since that time, the phrase "time to gel" has been used as an excuse for any change or injury this team faces. The improved play of our OL as soon as we changed quarterbacks revealed the futility of this philosophy.
Ex: Change of defense leading to poor defensive play? They need to time gel.

I really like this one. What about calling it "gel time"?

"Getting D-Robbed" - the act making off with millions of dollars after a player has received the franchise tag. Said player is percieved to be an integral part of the team to include but no limited to "lockeroom leadership" and "fan favorite". The player then proceeds to pull a 180 and go in the tank while smiling all the way to the bank. Typical variations include coming off a dehibilitating injury from and/or holding out of training camp and preason after the tag is applied.

"Play 30" - A play on the NFL's campaign "Play 60" to encourage children to be active, get excercise and encourage a healthy lifestyle. Play 30 is a reference to the Texan uncanny ability to consistenly perform great for one half of a football game and completely disappear the other half. There is not set order in which the halves must occur. The team can come out flat and then bounce back or come out hot and blow the game. Most popular way to blow the game to date is by using the aforementioned "Brown Out". See also "learning how to finish".

"Execute" - A favorite word of Dom Capers and a word that still makes Texans fans cringe to this day. This word may be applied, subisituted, or used in lieu of any other word in any spot of any sentence as long as it is perceived as a meaningless excuse.
