Crazy Idea?

How about from now on we trade our 2nd and 3rd rd picks for a 1st rounder every year. make it mandatory that we never ever pick in the 2nd and 3rd round again and just pick twi 1st rounders every year.
1st rd picks:
QB David Carr-solid starter that is getting better and better each year. can't make final judgement until OL keeps him standing up enough to show something.

WR Andre Johnson-Better than we could have ever expected on and off the field (If we had the #2 that year do you think we would have gotten Rogers?)

CB Dunta Robinson-Another great pick, came on a little slow but exploded in the second half of season.

OLB Jason Babin-Transition is tough for DE but give him credit for staying in there the whole year. Our coaching staff must have confidence for some reason.

2nd and 3rd rd picks: (you be the judge)
WR Jabar Gaffney-ok
OL Chester Pitts-ok
OL Fred Weary-ehh
DL Charles Hill-bust
TE Bennie Joppru-hasn't played
QB Dave Ragone-still wondering why?
OLB Antwaan Peek-mental mistakes keep him off the field
OT Seth Wand-ehh

I know it isn't logical but just posted this thread to make you think about how we have drafted in the past. I know the first rd guys should be better than 2nd and 3rd (thats why they are drafted first) but before everyone starts off on "lets trade down and pick up more picks" consider we haven't done well with players with lots of question marks and maybe we should just stick to where we are and pick up a player we have confidense in to step in and do the job from day one.

Valuewise, I'd say it's fair for #13 straight up for Pace. Taking age and contracts into consideration, I wouldnt do it.While 29(30 by november) isnt really old, I dont think its worth the #13 and the 8 mil it would take to sign him.

Maybe Casserly should just do a better job of picking players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

everyone makes a few mistakes... im sure no one was thinking ryan leaf was going to be an absolute bust... same for akili smith... and those were first round guys... drafting in the 4-5-6 rounds is a total hit or miss... tom brady, a hit.... Casserly did a great job getting Domanick Davis in the 4th round i believe... glenn earl was solid, he was a later round pick... the texans have had three drafts, sure there are gonna be some misses, but every team has those misses, not just us

And maybe Casserly already has done a good job by picking Wand, Peek and Joppru and we just don't know it yet. Pitts and Gaffney already look like solid picks IMO.

Every GM in the NFL can do a better job. I disagree though that we know how well Casserly has done so far for the Texans.
