Default Can Schaub make the 8-ball?

He has real good stats but he has had trouble finishing the game. The jury is still out, but he sure hasn't done much to put us over when we are on the fence at the end of the game and can fall either way. We still have a few games left and I for one would like him to see him win a close game when it is looking bleak like Peyton did this trip and the last time he was here. I'm not expecting him to be anywhere close to Peyton but his stats are good so he must have some talent. The intangible winning attitude is what this organization needs. My wife said on the way home from the game today that she would have liked to have seen Schaub up high-fiving the players after scoring in the first half rather than just going to sit down on the bench (she had my binoculars). We're not going to see this from the current coaching staff so it's up to the QB.

Manning doesn't do that. it doesn't seem to affect his play, or his teammates' play.

focus on things that matter, this right here is worthless.

The high-fiving stuff is stupid, but why would a Miami fan care? Our team does not have a positive attitude. Focus on what, firing Kubiak? That has been focused on for years. Schaub never played before he got here, he was completely untested. Is he any good is the question.

Default Re: Can Schaub make the 8-ball?

To me Schaub's problem is when we are in a close game at the BEGINNING or MIDDLE of the 4th quarter. When he has the opportunity to put the game out of reach or take the lead he makes a bad decision, two of those have resulted in pick sixes this season.

When the team is losing and the game is almost over he is usually clutch enough to put us in a position to win or tie the game whether that be with a td or by getting Brown in FG range.

This season he directed the offense in position to tie the game in 4 of our losses. But in the Cardinals loss he also threw the pick six when we had an opportunity to take the lead.

I'm not worried about whether Schaub is "clutch" from the sense of can he bring us back if we're down. I'm worried about his ability to put a game away in the beginning or middle of the 4th quarter when we're tied or its a close game and another score could put the game out of reach.

I realize part of that problem is the playcalling though and I hope he can fix these problems with a coaching staff who will go for the kill when there's blood in the water.

Not so fast, my friend -

A young boy by the name of Mont Sleets became the inventor of the high five as we know it today. His father, Lamont Sleets, Sr. was in the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry regiment while serving in Vietnam. It was known as the Bobcat Division, but Sleets, Sr. would call it the Five. A greeting that developed between the Army veterans was to raise one's hand into the air with all five fingers spread and call out, "Five!"

While Mont was young, he quickly learned this greeting and carried it with him for life. As he was still small, he would mimic his father and his buddies, raising his small hand up and calling out, "Hi, Five!" as if it was their name. Curious as children are, he would compare his hand size to those of his elders, which meant him pressing his palm against theirs.

Mont Sleets grew up, forever carrying this tradition with him. He became one of the greatest basketball players for Murray State University. During games and practice, his team would be amazed by his skill and finesse on the court. In celebration Mont would raise his hand and tap palms with whoever returned the gesture.

In hearing such a story, we learn the history of such simple gestures in modern society, how they come about, and what they meant the first time around. Mont Sleets in the end invented the high five out nothing more than a small personal tradition which evolved over time from his life as a young boy all the way to the time he become a skilled college basketball player. Today it is much more than a personal tradition, but a commonly accepted gesture of greeting and celebration.

Dude was from Kentucky.

LOL

Seriously when schools went to the phonics method of teaching kids how to spell that is when things went in the crapper.

simply teaching kids how to spell doesn't actually teach them about how language works or anything, though.

this is a fun derail.

No, but bad spelling can certainly make a message appear careless, not well thought out, and not worth considering.

if you learn the phonics, the spelling will come. if the spelling doesn't follow, then it was never meant to be.
