Default Keep the perspective...........

1. Vince Young did not beat us, and is not a great QB. He filled his role well, but their D, kicker, and 170 yard rusher beat us. If VInce believes the press again he will soon be dealing with self doubt and frustration, because he cannot put a team on his back like Manning, Brady, or even Matt can when needed. How funny to see him basking in self adulation when his kicker makes a 53 yarder.

2. We (the Texans, that is), have lost 1 game (Jets) and failed to win 4. The inability to finish games is indicative of a young team (especially Mr Slaton) and an over-the-hill kicker. If their kicker had missed one of his long kicks, would Vince Young be so thoroughly praised? I see this team maturing this year and, as opposed to losing loudly the rest of this year and going forward we will win quietly.

3. We do need a new kicker, as the entire team will find it hard to trust him and it can be demoralizing. Not saying he is washed up, but he is better off somewhere else.

4. Kubiak needs to play more to win, and not to lose.

Hang in there folks....

How often has Matt put the team on his back when needed?

Kubiak said after the game that they didn't run a legit play with 8 seconds left because he didn't want to risk an interception or a sack. Do you think he has confidence in Matt to put the team on his back?

I agree. The Texans are still a young team developing an identity. They now have the weapons to play with anyone and with the exception of the Opening Day fiasco...our team has only lost games by a score or less.

Since the Jets aberration...the losses have come to good teams that are winning and in one case, surging. Jags. Cardinals. Colts. Titans.

Not bad. They will develop that killer instinct and close the games they need. They will add more players to the mix and down the road this team will be elite. The defense is finally coming around and except for two big plays, I can't really see how Chris Johnson got 150 yards.

Really, when you consider it's the Colts and surging Titans team with a difficult to gameplan CJ/VY combo...it just came down to field goal kicking the last two weeks.

Indeed, keep the perspective. It's not yet the Texans' time. All they can do is put it behind and continue the improvement.

The Houston Texans can pull up the chinstraps and take it out on the Indy Colts. Now, that's a must win game for sure.

He's lead the team on potential game winning/scoring drives 4 or 5 times this season. It isn't his fault that the Texans can't kick a clutch field goal, or get their RBs in the endzone from the 1 yard line.

He played it smart. He didn't go all Belicheat and outcoach himself trying to be cute.

Centering the ball in the dead middle of the field to give your kicker the best chance is a good play call in that situation.

With only less than 8 seconds...I don't question Kubiak's call there. I think Kubes has faith but the right call was made in the right situation. Don't risk a sack or a fluke pick. Go for the tie in FG range.

Kris Brown has kicked clutch 40 plus yarders before. He just missed. Two games in a row.

How many times, you ask?

With the exception of the Jets game, every time.

Every game he has done what he can to put us in position to win.

He doesnt kick field goals and doesnt run it in from one yard out. He cant pick off passes thrown right at him, and he cant catch short passes for a first down that are dropped.

Without a pretty good QB this team is well below average. Take a look at our first downs tonight: Passing versus running.

All I really ask for as a fan of this team is that they continue to improve each year. We have done that this year even if it hasn't shown in the win column yet. We play with passion and intensity, we just need to mature into a team that also plays (and coaches) with its brain. We are young, and I think we are still a couple players short of a great team.

Too much koolaid,

1. VY did beat us he passed very well, and ran for what it seemed like a million first downs.
2. I think the record shows well lost all the games, what might have been is just that, what might have been. Good teams win games against good teams, were have not figured it out and thus were are still not a good team.
3. Partially agree here KB seems to have lost his mojo.
4. Don't think coach K. played ti loose here, I think that the offense should have been more balanced with the run though (to see moats would have been nice as a change of pace, unless he was injured.

How are we improving? The offense, especially the run game, has taken a huge step backwards. The defense is middle of the pack, like last year. The special teams are probably worse. And the coaching has been suspect as always. I'm not seeing improvement at all.

Vince threw 3 or 4 good passes. Even ESPN is finding it hard to come up with examples of his passing tonight. But thats OK...Like I said, just as with Vick, defenses will force him to pass and beat him, and he will fade away again. But their running back is the real deal.....

Vince Young did his part. But he didn't beat the Texans. Matt Schaub threw for over 300 yards, two TDs and no picks. Vince Young cannot do that like Schaub, week after week. Having Chris Johnson takes a heck of a lot pressure off.

I think not having Owen Daniels and Jacoby Jones hurt the Texans, and having those two really would have altered the offensive field dynamics, Daniels being a clutch 3rd down conversion machine especially. But still, Schaub put up the numbers again and put his team in a position for OT again as well.

Two evenly matched teams but it came down to field goal kicking.

Our D is a lot better then last year. We have guys that make plays, we just need to add a big DT and a CB.

On offesnse, we need to fix our O-line.

I honestly believe that we are about 2-4 players away from being a contender. Even with the guys we have right now, we are only a couple of plays away from having 6, 7 or even 8 wins at this point. I know that doesn't count for much, but I still see it as an improvement

The defense jumped from dead last to start this season to about 15-16th. And it's a CONTINUALLY improving squad. They are leading the league in more 3 and outs, forcing more turnovers than before...but it's a work in progress.

The running game surely has taken some steps backward but I'm not sure you could say it's offense totally. That passing game has dominated despite no balance. I think the running game issue will be adressed.

Oh, and not having a key weapon like Owen Daniels hasn't exactly helped, he being a crucial 3rd down converter. But still that offense still gains chunks of yards.

It's definitely a better team than last year no matter how you cut it. And it's going to get better.

What we need is a CB, new center, kicker, and a stud DT. We'll be set.

I forgot to add, but we all know this, the Texans D linemen have to start SACKING the QB. Other than that, the D does hit hard, make some plays and not being the joke they were last year and the start of this one.

CJ got his yards the 1st game we still won, like I said how many times did VY run for a first down, VY doesnt have to put up #s like Matt, he has CJ and his running, so yes VY was a huge reason why we lost, we did not contain him or get any real pressure on him.

And injuries are part of the game, sure it would be nice to have OD and JJ but we don't, even then we should still have enough fire power to score.

Well, it's not going to be easy to contain Vince Young's scrambling. For now, NFL defenses will find it hard now that he's back. He almost has to be re-scouted. Scrambling's a part of what he brings to the table. But it's not like he ran 40 yards for a game winning TD.

Matt Schaub can continually find guys like David Anderson or James Casey for a few clutch 1st downs. Vince Young can scramble for a 1st down. What's the difference?

The game still boiled down to a missed FG, and prior to that a 3rd Qtr red zone opportunity that should have been a needed TD for the Texans. All of Vince Young's scrambling doesn't change that. He will get his plays and we give him credit to what he does.

But Vince Young did not win the game. Rob Bironas did. And even he wasn't perfect. Indeed, Vince Young did his part.

You are right Spek. Tonight he did what he had to do. I am just noting that it has been proven that Vince himself, Michael Vick, and others can be stopped by NFL defenses if they are not strong pocket passers. I was just noting that despite all of CJ's efforts, missing two of our three receivers, their defense, and their amazing kicking performance it took two missed kicks for us to lose. But the analysts are making him out to be a great QB. That he is not.
