This is a serious thread and I would really appreciate your input. If there was a book that came out about the Houston Oilers (1960-96) and it related to a where have you gone? format, would you buy it? Of course, it would cover some of the more notable star players (Dan Pastorini, Robert Brazile, etc.) and some of the lesser known players (Dalva Allen, Mike Renfro, etc). The format would basically intertwine their careers, on the field and off the field. Plus, it would have some of their most memorable moments as an Oiler.
I was fan of the Oilers growing up in the mid-70s and I was very disappointed that they moved to Tennessee. I still followed them because of Bruce Matthews, Eddie George and Steve McNair, etc. but it was not the same. Now, I am a rejuvenated fan of the Houston Texans and have been since they first started talking about bringing a team back to Houston. It's really kind of sad that the Oilers are just a footnote to AFL/NFL history in a sense. I know the Titans have done well with the move, but they hardly acknowledge their roots anymore. And the Texans want to make their own history, which I understand. Nevertheless, I would appreciate a yes or no and I welcome any comments. Thanks.

Yes, I would buy it. I'm much to old to throw away 30 plus years of memories. The HOUSTON OILERS will never die in the hearts and minds of those of us who followed them from the beginning.

Yes as long as the last chapter ends before the move to Possum Holler.

A4toZ - some of those books are good (Oiler Blues and The Early Years), but they do not cover the Oilers in the way I mentioned. The players I have talked to have been very receptive (interviews and such).
gwallaia - The memories will stop after the 1996 season, except for the case of Bruce Matthews at the moment - there will be a slight mention of the Titans. Thanks for the input thus far - I need more! Thanks.

Well since I'm just a punk 21 year old I don't think I'd buy it for myself. I'm doing good to remember the last game they played as Oilers and how I thought I would never get into football bc of it. Now I know plenty of people in my family who were die hard Oiler fans so if there was such a book I'd buy up on as many as I could.

Definantly man!! The Titans will always be remembered as the old houston oilers for the people who watched them play ball in H-town. Alot of history is with the oilers team and as a fan . . . . to just erase all that ain't cool!! I wonder if any team titans/texans will ever wear throwback jerseys of the oilers . Probably wont since theirs probably legal issues involved. I would buy oilers stuff more than texans/titans because thats old school.
Love the OILERS, TEXANS, and the TITANS but I hate the owner BUD "****&^*" Adams. Doesn't treat fans and players with repesct!!!

I may be wrong but I think you can find Oilers throwback gear at Champs. I'm almost positive I saw something with the Oilers logo on it when I was there the other day.

Thumbs up from here. I have alot of good memories. I got to meet several Oilers... Bingham, Mauck, Earl, Bum just to name a few. Bum Phillips will always be the greatest coach in my mind. Classy gentleman.
