That deal's been in the works since last year.

He's just now stepping it up this season.

Nice raise. I guess I will go home and put on his jersey as a way of thumbs up. Gosh I've been a good mood this week.

Jerry did something right? Whoping total of 4 comments about it.

Come back when he does something dumb or extravagant.

So glad to see. He does lock up his players and I'm sure the contract will end up being cap friendly down the road.

So you are good with spending $40 million guaranteed on a player that you think isnt as effective this year as in years past?

He is still one of the top defensive players in the league and is young. He started slow and is picking it up. Alot goes into effectiveness....losing other starters on the line, etc. I said in another thread that no player is untradeable on the team but he is the closest. He hasn't done as well but his play is still elite. He still is a player that offenses plan around. Jerry may do alot of things but he figures out how to sign players and how that money can be used over the years where it won't bind them.

This raise is as much for last year as for this year and the next few.

He's an elite player. I guess that's the going rate.

After seeing Haynesworth get his money... I'm stunned they signed Ware this cheap.

I cannot tell you where I heard it but it was on a national radio sports show and they were talking about Al's contract..said it was all front loaded and while the $100 million made it sound really outrageous the truth was that he would never, ever see anything close to that amount...but it was good publicity for his agent and him.

The Cowboys started talking to Ware early last year about this contract extension so it's been on-going with him for many months.

It must have been all good faith on both sides though..he never made any waves about not being there for their mini-camps, training camps or missing any games..preseason or regular.

From rotoworld:

Quote:
2/27/2009: Signed a seven-year, $100 million contract. The deal contains $41 million guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus, a $21 million option bonus, and his 2009-2011 base salaries. Haynesworth is due a $29 million "poison pill" in 2013, effectively making it a four-year, $48.2 million deal. Another $15 million is available through incentives. 2009: $6 million, 2010: $3.6 million, 2011: $5.4 million, 2012: $6.7 million (+ $500,000 workout bonus), 2013: $8.5 million (+ $20 million "discretionary signing bonus" + $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31 = Poison Pill Year), 2014: $10.3 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31), 2015: $11.5 million (+ $500,000 roster bonus due 8/31), 2016: Free Agent. Cap charge: $7 million (2009).

Thank you for the information.

Somebody told me he went off after that lackluster performance by the Skins last night but I've not read that anywhere today.
