At one point in time "I should'a, could'a, would'a" will ring deaf to even the hardest corps of Texans fans.

The Texans welcome the San Francisco 49ers to town for a roof-open contest under what should be ideal conditions at Reliant Stadium, and there should be no excuses. Winning teams don't lose three homes games in a season.
A loss today would leave the Texans 1-3 at home this season. Neither of the first two defeats has anything to do with what will happen today, but when you dig a hole, you probably shouldn't jump into it and start piling dirt onto yourself.

That is what the Texans would do with a loss today.

The 49ers are 3-2, the Texans 3-3. But the Texans are the better team. Period.

It is time they started acting like the better team.

Mario Williams describes where the team is now and has been many times as “the hump.”

“Oh, it's time,” Williams said. “Time to move forward and get over the hump. We're not going to look for any excuses. What we do on the field will tell the story.

“(Today) is a big day for us.”

That's what I like to read.

Alex Smith into the game was a HUGE adjustment. The defense did not
prepare to stop a real quarterback. They prepared to stop Frank Gore
(which they did.) Shaun Hill is a ZERO at QB, with NO THREAT to go
deep. Alex Smith is a much better athlete with a live arm, and a deep
threat in Crabtree.

I knew it would be tough with Smith in the game, and hoped the Texans would
pull it out. And they did.

Completely agree with this. I was worried when Alex Smith came in. Glad we came out with the win though.

I am not happy with the way we ended the game either, but I feel like I had watched that game before and the Texans lost. We need to learn to put teams away, but we need to learn to win first. We almost let that game get away with a bone head penlaty late in the game, but the offense got the first downs that they needed to at the end of the game to make time and issue and the defense was able to come up with another turn over to end the game. Consistency has been an issue, but we are seeing glimpses of what this team CAN be.

I agree with those that think the defensive performance in the second half was more about Alex Smith than lack of effort. I think the Niners exposed some weaknesses there that need to be addressed.
