Question Should the Titans fire Jeff Fisher?(Poll)

The Titans have started the season 0-6 and he is on the hot seat. Should he be fired or given another season to redeem himself? I remember Sam Wyche had a similar season back in 87 and the Bengals came back strong the next year(88).

To be honest I wouldn't even be thinking that way. I don't think Adams can get an elite like I believe Fisher to be.

When a team quits on a coach, there's only one choice in the matter. I voted "yes."

I think both parties would benefit from a parting of ways. It wouldn't hurt us either.

As a Texans fan, no, I'd rather seem him struggle for anotheryear.

If I was a titans fan, i'd be ready for someone new. Those players have totally quit on him

I can't see how Fisher is deemed elite by anyone. He's been there forever, and he's won exactly nothing.

That said, I do think he's a good coach. In terms of winning coaches, not quite as good as Marty Schottenheimer, but not as bad as Wade Phillips. And I think it's absurd that anyone thinks a coach that took his team to 13-3 last year suddenly forgot how to coach.

In the end, though, I don't care. I have no hopes to ever see Fisher in Houston, and I don't really care who coaches the Tacks, as long as it results in more losses.

Point taken. I really meant elite by comparison. BTW, how many rings does Marty Schottenheimer have again? (just goofing)

That's pretty much why I put Fisher where I put him. Marty has a way better record and getting into the playoffs, but no ring. Fisher got to the SB, but no ring, and not a particularly impressive string of playoff appearances. Wade has a winning record overall, but no one's mistaking him for a great coach.

Obviously, the championship coaches are on another level.

Fisher is the second winningest active coach behind The Hood (Belichick).

That's gotta' say something for the guy.

Considering his owner, I think he's done pretty good under the circumstances.

I'm not saying he's "elite", but there are only a handful of those in NFL history anyway. But I am saying that he's pretty dern good and at the present, better than our current or previous HCs....which, of course, doesn't say much.

If you're somewhere for fifteen years and don't win a championship, you're not going to win one there. Winning seasons are only so good for so long (see: Marty Schottenheimer, Dan Reeves).

2nd winningest "active" coach doesn't say much either, to be honest. You can qualify any stat/statement down to meaningless, and this one, while not quite meaningless, is not all that. Someone else said it, maybe on here, maybe on the radio, but in Fisher's fifteen years, plenty of SB-winning coaches have been fired. In just the last couple years, we've seen Shanahan, Gruden, and Billick fired. That's four Super Bowls right there.

I reiterate, though - it's not like Fisher forgot how to coach all of a sudden. His players are the ones spitting the bit.

It took Bill Cowher 15 years to win one in Pittsburgh, and they've got a winning tradition, don't have an owner like Bud Adams, and didn't move to a new city.

Where is the "Yes, I want them to fire Fisher and hire a terrible coach so they go 0-16 every year" option?

Voted "Too early to tell."

In this league, they could rack up 10-straight wins and shock the world with a wildcard berth (if things got goofy somehow with other teams) and possibly run the table in the playoffs.

Then, nobody here nor anywhere else would be laughing.

Until they get to 8 losses, there is no corpse.

I guess I just don't understand this 'fire the coach' mentality. I guess I never will. But I have to accept it because it's "traditional emotion", and logic doesn't have anything to do with it.

Perfect example: It's been stated and even reiterated, that Fisher, coming off a 13-3 season, didn't become a bad coach overnight.

OK, so if that's true, what is the case for firing him?

Will someone please explain it to me? I don't get it.

When your coach loses his team, it's about time to lose the coach. Nobody is saying that he can't coach, he'll get a job somewhere else (Mike Shanahan didn't forget how to coach either, but it's obvious a little shakeup did them some good.). It's obvious that the team is tired of hearing the same ol' voice and they've tuned him out.

Unless you'd be willing to part ways with a roster that just went 13-3 last season and had the best record in the league last season, it's easier to just get a new coach in there.

That's one thing I'll give Kubiak and one of the biggest things he has and has had going for him. The Texans could be 3-7 (like last year) and they still always fought for him.....they still fight for him today. As long as they do that, McNair is probably not going to let him go.

When the Titans walked into that snowstorm up in Massachusetts and then proceded to get drummed 59-0, it was clear that they just flat out quit on their coach.....I think the "Fisher era" died on that snowy field also. I think Fisher knows it as well...
