Default Mock this-

Browns- (from 49ers) Aaron Rogers, will address their QB need via the draft instead of F/A (see Garcia) Aaron has great mechanics and accuracy & played in a Pro-Set under Teford, this one does not dissapoint.

Redskins- (from Dolphins) Mike Williams, Gibbs must get aggressive here, last year they passed on Winslow (if he could have stayed healthy would have been giving Ben a run for his money) this year they draft a red zone target.

49ers- (from Browns) Alex Smith, prefeer the more mobile, cerebral type, anyway reminds them more of Steve & Joe.

Bears- Braylon Edwards, use to cold weather, big play maker, tough in the coaches mold.

Bucs- Cadillac Williams, chemistry good with Gruden an every down back with complete skill sets for success in Tampa.

Titans- Alex Barron, if you can't keep the dogs off McNair Chow can't spin his magic.

Raiders- Cedric Benson, Court Rickie Williams but decide the baggage is too heavy, Cedric will address a need, no a void that has existed in Oakland since they relocated. Al your not getting any younger, just win baby.

Cardnials- Ronnie Brown, the first time in NFL history two runners from the same backfield (Auburn) are taken in the top 10 picks, but there is a reason- need and talent.

Dolphins- Antrell Rolle, whats Nick smoking? same stuff as Ricki, which by the way works in Miami's favor as Williams returns (decides that inner happiness turely is the color green) & the locals will not riot if a hometown hero is selected.

Lions- Thomas Davis, the man with two last names, this is a tough choice for Muche' but need over rides brains and once again the Lions bag a beast.

Cowboys- Marcus Spears, can fit the 3-4 or the 4-3, hell maybe he can play TE too if Witten gets hurt. Forget about Erasmus James going as the 1st DE (too many injury concerns).

Chargers- Troy Williamson, just because Kipper says the Texans will take him @ #13, really WR is a need & Troy has the speed to stretch the defense only question does Brees have the arm or will it be Rivers?

Texans- Derrick Johnson, they don't trade up or down but select a defensive playmaker, a home grown product in their own backyard that will be able to transform an otherwise placid lack of a pass rush defense into a molten turbin of horror. imagine DJ & DROB

good draft, but it seems the chargers would want to upgrade their tackles over their WR. I mean Oben and Olivea aren't exactly pro bowlers.

I disagree I don't think they would draft an OT at #12

your absolutely right about those tackles, however there should still be an opportunity to get one with the other 1st round pick (Chargers own). Unless Barron is still on the board, I see them waiting for Jaamal Brown or one of the two big guards Baas or Elton Brown. Troy Williamson is a perfect fit in San Diego, by trading down last year with the Giants they aquire an elite WR, along with Gates at the TE position and a young stud offensive lineman "show me your lightening bolts"

Default Round pegs in the round holes

Looks good to me beerlover. Just wonder what the 9ers would take for the #1. In the past it's been way too high. Nice skill players dot all the rounds. I betca it's going to be more than a simple swap. They are in the same boat we are in. Both lines struggle and are in a major need of tallent . Plus the fact they run an offense that requires skill players and they ain't got many. Looks to me to be a premium on the big dogs. With the new inforcement of the passing rules, gotta have people to protect the passer of get to him.

Wouldn't surprise me if there isn't a lot of jumpng around on day one. All the moves make sense to me two weeks befor the numbers.

possible.. but i dont see it happening.

for one.. i dont think the Titans will take Barron. I dont think the Lions would pass on DJ for Davis. I dont know that the Cowboys would either.

I think the Cardinals might finally look at defense too and could grab DJ as well.

I don't think we will see any tackles in the top ten this year. There is no elite prospect.

But can't you say that about every position in this draft? Look back at last years draft and Aaron Rodgers is likely the 4th QB taken. Edwards & Mike Williams would probably battle for the 3rd & 4th Wr spot. DJ would vie with Vilma as who would be the 1st LB. And even though this is a deep CB draft, none of them would go ahead of Hall or Robinson. This is a draft where you'll see more divergence in opinion among NFL teams draft boards than usual.

Back in the '80's, NY Giants GM George Young & then Giants head coach Bill Parcells came up with a draft philosophy called "The Planet Theory". The theory suggests that whenever you have prospects who are close together in talent, you go with the bigger player. Because good big players are rarer than good small players. I would suggest that there will be NFL teams in the top 10 that subscribe to that theory. I think that after the tape evaluations, combine results, & pro days, Jamaal Brown & Alex Barron (if his shoulder checks out) will rate as at least equal talents as guys like Carnel Williams, Cedric Benson, & some of the others considered top 10 picks.

I think there will be lots of "surprises" in this draft because of the fact that there are not many guys with elite grades this year, so sure, anything can happen. It's just a guess of mine, but based on the limited information I have I think that a OT in the top 10 would be a real reach because from what I understand guys like Barron carry grades lower than Vernon Carey and Shawn Andrews from last years draft.

Elton Brown is a better talent than Shawn Andrews c'mon your living in the past dude, Vernon Carey is more a Jamaal Brown type of verstile lineman. Barron is in another league, he is a legitimate NFL LT. sometimes you kill me espcecially after a heavy night of drinking when I come home and read this stuff. you think this class is so weak, blah, blah, blah that there is no high grade talent at offensive lineman when in fact quite the opposite is true. the only credit I give you is the fact you traded down as the Texans GM and selected Baas, and I raked you for taking him so early and you defended the move as valid based upon production and longivity in the league. OK I bought that then you turn around and say just the opposite, you can't have it both ways just how close was McNair to retirement anyway? was it because of the losing or the pounding he was sustaining? the Titans are way under the cap (which doesn't mean Ol' Bud will be spending) but generally speaking LT's with established track records don't come cheap in free agency, I doubt he pony's up for a Walter Jones or Orlando Pace, thats my IMO

First of all, Elton Brown is a Guard, and I made a comment concerning the quality of tackles (post #7 of this thread) in the top-10 of the draft, not interior linemen quality in this draft. In the mock I traded down twice for a Center, a position that I never brought up in this thread (OT stands for Offensive Tackle btw). Also, try not to get offended when someone has an opinion or offers a comment that doesn't just repeat everything you read on the net.

Here is the post where I explained my pick (post #105 of the mock draft discussion thread).

Here is the post where you respond (post #108).

Explaing the purpose of our multi-participant mock draft (post #125)

That kind of quote (of mine) is known in some circles, as "an opinion".

I heard that Barron is considered a talent . I don't think anyone considers him a top notch trade up to get player . I bet he does not go before 20 . We know all about OL with shoulder troubles .

Don't see the Browns giving up anything to move up two spots when they could stay put and take whatever QB doesn't go #1.

A better option would be to pass on both QBs (I don't like Rodgers or Smith) and let Holcomb play another year then worry about a QB next season.

The Browns just hired a defensive coach whose 6 th rd. pick QB led them to three Super Bowls . I bet they go with a defensive player , besides Holcombs not a bad QB .

Nice mock, very reasonable, even if I don't really think Johnson falls that far none of the picks are insane.

now I can live with that opinion HUGE, its a tough call with both QB's when or where they end up. of the two I think Aarons game translates best to the pro-game, alot of people have hyped Smith (Kipper being one) but he is definetly a system kinda guy. Rogers can come in and run multiple systems, plus his delivery & mechanics are superior, therefore I give him the edge and the #1 pick. frankly I'd like to see them (Browns) take Barron & give Holcomb a chance, but you know how things go when the pressure is on.

also some may notice that Adam "PAC MAN" Jones was not selected in this abbreviated Mock this- if the Texans where to take a corner, my money is on Justin Miller, mark my words or you can save & print this Vinny for latter use.

Just remember that you were the guy who argued (with me) tooth and nail that we would not in any way draft a linebacker last year when I suggested that we had a need. You basically called my opinion foolish. Not only did we draft a linebacker, we gave up picks to get him.

that was with the 1st pick, DT was my preference. still one year later we don't have that elite, young tackle. they missed Wilfork by 6 picks when they traded down for Babin so who knows what they would have had to given up, as it where, the price seemed steep enough.

I will admit this I did not understand the 3-4 defense as well last year as I know it this year. now it would not surprise me if the Texans used their #1 pick on a linebacker, DJ being #1, but then I'll revert back to DT & Marcus Spears followed by a CB in Justin Miller.

No doubt you are the man 95% of the time and I agree whole heartedly, its rarely on occassion I have a differrent take and I guess this is just one of those. to say Barron is not an elite tackle, unworthy of a 10 ten pick (nor that he will or could be selected this high) in my opinion is inaccurate. and I will stand by that statement until proven otherwise by you or someone else until after draft day or years after draft day
