Default Is it really just a game any more?

When losses like this one puts you in a slump? Is it wrong for me to be in a funk just because the Texans loss another winnable game? I mean...it is just a game, right? Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way. I know I'll get over it, but damn this one hurt!

You're not alone! I think most of us Diehards feel the same way. Mondays are always HELL! Always wake up thinking about what COULD HAVE BEEN, IF ONLY, etc, etc. We go through all the "grief" emotions: pain, saddness, anger, and eventually acceptance! THEN, hopefully by Friday, we get our hopes up and prepare ourselves to do it all over again!

I sure would like to wake up smiling next Monday morning instead of feeling so down! Cincy WILL NOT be a walk in the park! We better prepare or we'll be in the same mood this time next Monday!!!

Your not alone. Sports is pure escapism that allows us to pump up the endorphins that makes us euphoric. The problem is when we allow ourselves to get to closely associated with the winning or losing of our teams. This has been my problem but am trying to wean myself. Like any addiction or habit the highs are great but usually to few and the lows are bad.

I know...the could have been and if only was one of the first things I thought of this morning. Perhaps, we should establish a Texans Fans Support program to get through the "grief" emotions - Hi, my name is AJ and I am a Texans fan. LOL

UNtil we get a HC that knows how to put his players in the right positions at critical moments to win games, then you will continue to see this. It's a reason why this continues to happen. It's no coincidence at this point that our players somehow screw everything up at the end of games all the time. When that's a consistent thing it's on the HC.

I feel like my older brother punched me in the mouth. He says he's sorry and that it won't happen again, but I wonder if another one is coming down the road.

I'd rather suffer a loss with consistent play, not this up and down stuff.

Uhhgg...growing pains....will they ever end!

I've gotten to the point that I don't even care whose fault all of this is, I just want someone somewhere to fix it period.

After these many years of Monday Morning depression and anger, no one even calls me or talks to me on Mondays. My own son just sends me an email.... Tuesdays are better, I guess, because people start talking to me again.

Being a Texan fan is really a happy/angry relationship. There isn't much in the middle. One thing you can count on - if you are a diehard, you will be ever so much better by Wednesday and ready for the next game. It is just Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays that are hard.

I'm a diehard Texans fan till the day I die! The emotions I go through watching this team is like watching your kids play sports. When they win, I feel so good inside, and on top of the world. When they lose, I feel horrible, and everything sucks. It takes awhile, but I get over it. Then the next game you go through the same thing all over again. Just like my kid, I will never give up on them no matter what.

I'm not giving up on the Texans either. I might ***** more, but I'm not giving up on them. And I won't cut them any slack when they play like kids, because they aren't kids. They are very highly paid professional football players and coaches that aren't getting the job done right now.

I'm with ya man. When they play like crap and choke, I let em' have it. When they play good I praise them.

I won't lie---this one hurt, even though I knew we would get the football yanked out from beneath us yet again and fall hard on our asses. I am sick and tired of the heartache of being a Houston sports fan, but I cannot quit any of my hometown's teams. I am a lifelong Texans, Rockets, and Stros fan and must learn to cope with the inevitable pains of such.

Today sucks hard. I feel like an emotional wreck, all because my Texans lost yet another game they should've won in the most gutpunchiest of ways. This is just like the Rosencopter game or the VY overtime game or the Kerry Collins-to-Roydell Williams/Rob Bironas 8 FG game from 2007. What did we do to deserve this? Jeez, Houston fans are good people. In general, they are not classless drunken boors like many other fanbases. So why do the football gods always piss on our playoff hopes in September and October only to let the team fight back to respectability when it's too late? Houston in the fourth largest city in the nation and the largest city in a huge football state, yet its fans haven't experienced the NFL playoffs in sixteen long years. Sixteen years!

As if that's not bad enough, my fantasy football team (which I use as a salve for Texans losses) is 1-4 despite scoring the second-most points in my league yesterday. I keep drawing matchups against guys who go off. I started Housh, Roddy, Collie, Ray Rice, and Chester Taylor and I still freaking lost. FML indeed. I swear I am cursed. Maybe yesterday was a message to stop caring about meaningless events I can't control.

I think I need to make some changes in my life and recalibrate what matters.

Hello, My name is Spike....and I'm....I'm a Texans Fan.

You aren't alone. The first step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem.

I'm there with you...at times, I feel childish for how much these games impact my Sundays, and how that feeling bleeds over early the week. I think the worst thing about being a Texans fan is that the team keeps on providing new and improved ways to make losing games that much more disappointing.

We can all remember the days when we just weren't competitive at all. You remember...when we couldn't get a first down to save our lives (forget third down completions) and it might take until the second quarter until we crossed the 50. It was tough to watch, and all we wanted to be was competitive. You think to yourself, if I can sit through this...I can sit through anything.

I would almost rather just get blown out than to watch us lose games like we do now. I'll say that nothing was worse that last year's game in Indy, but this year's team has a way of breaking your hear twice. We come out playing poorly and give up the early lead in the game...only to come back and make us believe that we can win, just to get the dirt kicked in our faces one more time Sunday afternoon.

It sucks. It sucks that we never seem to win the close one.

Did you really need to bring up the HC hate here? Not really all that applicable to the thread...

Sometimes the child moves away just like a former Houston team.
