Default Raiders Cable could be going to jail soon....

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slu...yhoo&type=lgns

Quote:
In addition to enduring yet another difficult loss, the Oakland Raiders are bracing for the possibility that coach Tom Cable could be arrested soon in relation to an alleged assault on an assistant coach. Criminal charges against Cable could lead to a suspension by the league.

“Everybody is trying to figure out who’s going to take over if Tom isn’t here,” said an assistant coach, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. “John Marshall has a lot of experience, he’s probably the guy. But it’s nuts. It’s crazy when you start to really think about it.”

Although Napa Valley (Calif.) police have declined to comment on the investigation, NFL.com quoted the attorney for Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson as saying that Hanson told police he had been assaulted by Cable on Aug. 5 while the Raiders were in training camp. Hanson was treated for a broken jaw and his attorney, San Francisco-based John McGuinn, said three other coaches, including Marshall, witnessed the attack.

McGuinn did not return three messages left by Yahoo!, but told NFL.com that the situation was “a textbook case of felony assault.”

Napa Valley police Commander Andy Lewis declined to discuss the matter, but defended the progress of the investigation even though no arrest had been made in nearly two months.

“I’m not going to address the case, but it’s not as simple as just making an arrest,” Lewis said. “You don’t know the issues involved with the case.”

If arrested, Cable could also face a suspension from the NFL for violation of the personal conduct policy. Under the policy, coaches and executives are held to the same standard, if not a higher one, than the players.

The Raiders, defeated 29-6 by the Houston Texans on Sunday, have played progressively worse through the season’s first four weeks. After a late-game loss in the opener to the San Diego Chargers, the Raiders struggled to beat the winless Kansas City Chiefs in the second game and have scored a total of nine points in their past two games.

They should arrest him for coaching that Oline and those WR's. Those players were criminal yesterday. If I were a Raider fan I'd be suicidal. That had to be the worst showing of WR's I've ever seen in a pro game.

Good grief the Raiders are bad. After some of the fans left in my section one of the regulars who sits behind me leaned back, put his feet on the seat in front and said this was the first game he recall that he could sit back and relax.

You know HBO is kicking themselves for not following the Raiders this year. Coaches slugging each other during meetings is pretty much the definition of Hard Knocks.

Or they could have scheduled a boxing match with Buddy Ryan vs Kevin Gilbride as the undercard.

Quote:
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – When Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable told his assistants after a sloppy Aug. 4 training-camp practice that he planned to meet privately that night with the team’s defensive backs, Randy Hanson was sure how things would play out.

“You know what’s gonna happen there,” Hanson, a defensive assistant who had worked closely with the team’s secondary, predicted to a small group of fellow staff members. “Tom’s gonna come out of the meeting and say I’m the problem, that I’m the one confusing them and blame it all on me.”

Hanson was right: Later that night, Cable informed him that the Raiders’ cornerbacks and safeties had pegged him as “the problem,” exacerbating the tension that Hanson says had been festering between the two coaches since January, when Hanson was hired by owner Al Davis before Cable had been offered a permanent head-coaching role.

What Hanson says he never saw coming was an alleged violent attack by Cable the following morning that left him with a fractured jaw and a polluted relationship with the franchise he has loved since childhood.

“From my blindside, Tom Cable threw me from my chair and into a piece of furniture that a lamp sat upon,” Hanson told Yahoo! Sports Friday during an extensive interview at a Bay Area restaurant. “He was screaming, ‘I’ll f——- kill you! I’ll f——- kill you!’ And I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t have killed me if they hadn’t pulled him away.

“If my head would’ve hit a different way, I might be dead right now.”

In his first public comments since the Aug. 5 incident that took place in a meeting room at the Marriott-Napa Valley, Hanson repeated the version of events that he gave to a Napa Police Department detective late last month. According to a source close to the investigation, three witnesses – Raiders defensive coordinator John Marshall, defensive backs coach Lionel Washington and assistant defensive backs coach Willie Brown – also provided statements to police investigators which corroborated Hanson’s account of the incident.

After our 02 & 05 season, I thought I'd never see a worse team. But heck even the 02 Texans won their first game ever and for the most part 02 & 05 teams were fairly competitive.

Hanson responds, offers to take lie detector test

Quote:
Beleaguered and injured Oakland Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson and his lawyer reacted strongly Thursday to a report that witnesses did not corroborate his claim that he was assaulted by head coach Tom Cable in August.

Hanson, who suffered a broken jaw and two cracked teeth during the alleged Aug. 5 incident, went so far as to offer to take a lie detector test and offered to pay for Cable to take one himself. Hanson has also agreed to be interviewed a second time next week by Napa, Calif., police investigating the incident.

“I will take a lie detector test and a drug test, and I will pay for it – and I’ll pay for Tom Cable to take those tests as well,” Hanson told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday.

However, one source who talked to Yahoo! and is highly familiar with the case said that based on statements given to police by Raiders assistants Willie Brown, John Marshall and Lionel Washington, the case is “really iffy.”

“There was a touching that, under the law, might be considered not good for Cable,” the source said. “… There was a confrontation. Hanson tumbled over. … Part of the issue is, what does ‘push’ mean. Somebody invaded his space. It’s real weak. No choking. No pushing him up against the wall. He grabbed him by the shirt front and yelled at him.”

The source did not have any theory as to how Hanson, who is still being paid by the franchise but currently has no active role, says he suffered a broken jaw and two cracked teeth after such an incident.

Regardless, Hanson’s attorney, John McGuinn, said that even if it were true there was only light touching by Cable and that Hanson broke his jaw after falling, “that’s still assault.”

Raiders' Cable won't face charges

Quote:
Napa County district attorney Gary Lieberstein said yesterday that the investigation concluded no charges were warranted.

"Our duty is to do the right thing for the right reasons," Lieberstein said. "Under the facts and circumstances of this case, it would be a miscarriage of justice to pursue criminal charges and we will not ask our citizens to give up their valuable time for jury duty, nor will we allow our criminal justice system to be compromised."

Hanson told Yahoo! Sports earlier this month that Cable came up from behind him and knocked him out of his chair. Hanson said he broke his jaw and cracked two teeth after hitting a table. Hanson also alleged that Cable threatened to kill him before the other coaches pulled him away.

Lieberstein said it was his belief that there was not enough evidence for a jury to convict Cable of any offenses beyond a reasonable doubt.

Lieberstein said interviews with witnesses established that Cable did not punch Hanson or make any verbal threats. He said the evidence showed that Cable became angry and rushed toward Hanson, but one of the assistants stepped between the coaches. Cable ran into the other assistant, who bumped into Hanson and knocked him out of his chair. The witnesses also told authorities that Cable then grabbed Hanson by the shirt but never struck or threatened him.

This should have seen a jury. You push someone into someone else hard enough to make them fall and break their jaw and then you grab him by the shirt and the judge concludes he was never threatened. If he wasn't threatening Hanson, what was he saying?

That being the HC in Oakland is far worse punishment than anything the courts could dish out and obviously the dude punched himself in the face while trying to escape his duties.

Clear cut case...
