Titans vs. Texans: Receiver justifies his reputation

Earlier in the week, Titans Coach Jeff Fisher called Houston's Andre Johnson one of the best — if not the best — wide receivers in the NFL.

On Sunday, Fisher had a close-up view as to why.

The go-to playmaker was almost unstoppable during Houston's sweat-it-out 34-31 win against Tennessee. The former University of Miami star finished with a game-high 10 catches for 149 yards and two touchdowns.

Last December, Johnson scorched the Titans with 11 receptions for 207 yards and a touchdown during Houston's win.

"We play them twice a year," Johnson said. "We pretty much know what they are going to give us.

"When they come out and do things, we just try to adjust to it."

And adjust Johnson did, particularly on his first touchdown catch, which went for 19 yards.

Johnson got one hand on the ball, managed to secure it, and deftly kept his feet inbounds along the end zone sideline to tie the score 7-7 in the first quarter.

Johnson didn't seem to be all that impressed with his performance while talking to reporters after the game.

But a slight smile did cross his face when he was reminded that three Titans defensive backs played in the Pro Bowl last year.

Johnson was asked if he thought a performance of Sunday's magnitude was possible.

"Anything is possible," he said.

How cool was it to see him, someone usually so quiet and soft spoken, get riled up and tell the little possum squallor trick Finnegan what was what AND back that up on the field! That got me excited Sunday! Finnegan tried to rattle the Big Dog's cage one too many times!

Dre has Finnegan blocked, and when the play is over, he slams him down to

yeah, I saw that on NFL Replay last night (hard to miss since they circled it in yellow). AJ got tired of that punkass talking trash, and not only schooled him (again!), but backed it up with action. More power to him. It sends a message to the Titans, as well as his fellow Texans.

Unfortunately, it looked like AJ had Finnegan's facemask for about 5 seconds yanking him all over with it. I hope that doesn't result in anything and certainly nothing more than a fine - which no offense he can afford and we don't have to pay (well anymore than we already did).

It did look like a fist full of facemask. Maybe it was the momentum of both players and the angle of the camera, but the highlight sure looked like AJ was throwing that punk to the ground by his mask. Hopefully nothing substantial comes from the NFL looking at it again.

I still like the attitude, though.

Loved that part. I just wish he had used the facemask to drag the little punk into the pile where the cameras couldn't see him.

Agreed. He can pay it but I'd chip in a couple of bucks to help. :P

Maybe this is where the NFL will see Dre's character previous to this and just slap his wrist as opposed to someone who is always causing problems.
