Lightbulb fact or fiction: the run helps the pass "texans"

if you ask me it the other way around for example the texans top 3 offence and an "ok" running game

i heard SOMEWHERE kubes says that we gota run 1st pass 2nd

i think we need to change that out because our passing game would wear the team out

then when the defence is tired we run so......slaton would get big gains and wont be that tired

i think of the titans game he was amazing runing the game out thats becuse we passed a ton so he was not tired that much

if you ask me aj walter davis and jones are the way to go

but this is not true for every team

it works for us because we have the top 3 offence

and slaton is a verry good runer

i think this is fiction for our team.....

post if you agree

Well of course, the run helps the passing game of the Texans. Our passing game is play-action heavy so if the defense doesn't respect the run fake, some of the receivers won't be open.

I think what you meant to ask is this:
Should we keep the run to set up the pass philosophy we have now?
or
should we use more spread formations and the speed/weapons we have at WR/TE to set up the running game?

I say we mix it up depending on who we're playing.

but for the record, my sig in 2007 was "Pass first, Run second"

But that was before Slaton. And before Alex Gibbs.
Now we can do either.

One helps the other no matter what... but I sometimes I think we try to hard to get the run going in order to help the air game. Hey, complete a few decent passes, and it's likely the run game will open up too. To be successful against a wide variety of NFL teams, you really need to have balance. And defense doesn't hurt either.

All I want is for the offense to get in rhythm early. I don't care if we use the run to set up the pass or the pass to set up the run. I'd prefer that we didn't have to set up anything. I'd prefer that we just come out hitting on all cylinders and being dominant with every play we call.

For me its pass first, then let Slaton have a go, see if you can get them stepping back a little bit. Hit OD and Andre early and often (as always!), get an early rhythm going, and then there won't be any pressure on Stevie to produce early on.
