Per Nick Scurfield's twitter:
"Kubiak said that Kevin Walter will be a gametime decision and Eugene Wilson will not play" http://twitter.com/NickScurfield In a way I feel better with Nick Ferguson in the starting lineup. Wilson offers little in the run support and Ferguson is a vet who will at least stick his nose in there and lay a hat on someone. I think inserting Ferguson into the lineup will help us stop the Jets run game. Losing Wilson does hurt us against the pass however because he's the only safety on our roster who's proven to be competent against the pass in the regular season. If Walter plays then great, the big difference between him and the other Andre is his blocking ability which we'll need on the edges to establish the run. As far as receiving goes I think we can lure Sheppard into some pass interference penalties or being outright burned if we send Davis deep a couple times on Sunday.

Man, I'd really hate to go into the game without Walter, but we have plenty of capable backups that can fill his role. Only thing that does is roll more saftey's to Andre's side instead of respecting Kevin.

Does anyone in the NFL have as many quality targets as the Texans. You look at our depth at WR/TE/throw in Slaton and it just makes a fan giddy. Schaub is a lucky man as long as he stays healthy!!!

I think its looking like Walter will play, perhaps Kubiak is doing his best Mangini impression and making Rex have to prepare for our other guys... Walter said on a recent chron.com video interview that it gets better everyday and he's never missed a game and thats not his MO. I'm confident in him.
I don't think there's much of a drop off from Wilson at FS to Barber at FS with Ferguson going to SS. Our safetys role's are interchangeable so it shouldn't be a big difference. It helps your safetys when your facing a rookie QB in his first game too, Barber and Wilson have to be better than your run-in-the-mill PAC-10 safetys right? |

I think we have some quality guys behind Walter, but I'd feel a lot better if he was out there.
So with Wilson out, thanks Brett(#$@@#$@#), and Ferguson who's going to start at SS? Are they really going to trot Barber out to start? |

Davis seems fully capable of making some plays though. That's the good thing.

that's pretty much a QB thing. Different QB's have different styles and you have to base your defense around a pocket qb or a scrambler and so on. I don't think Walter is going to change RR's gameplan.

Well RR may not be on it as much as the Jets DB coach and Lito Sheppard

I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'd probably bet someone else's life on the fact that 95% of the time, when Kubiak says someone is a gametime decision, they don't play.

Not saying he is going to play but the WR most like Walter on the roster is Glenn Martinez, wondering if we won't see a small dose of him.

Andre Davis getting the start, I smell some bombs coming the Jets way.

Davis has a GREAT matchup in this game, too. Last chance to pick him up in your fantasy league!

Walter isn't playing.
I was really surprised by some of their other inactives. - Caldwell and White, their 2nd and 3rd centers, are both inactive. What happens if Meyers goes down? Studdard and Butler are the only active backups on the offensive line. - DelJuan Robinson is inactive. I thought he was one of their top 3 defensive tackles. Zgonina is active. - Anthony Hill is inactive. If they don't need a blocking specialist at tight end, what is he doing on the team? http://www.houstontexans.com/news/St...?story_id=5563 |
