I'm looking for some assistance on approximately which sections in Reliant have the potential to be in the sun during game time (assuming a noon kickoff). I know, in general, that the north side of the stadium gets sun, as well as the northeast.
But what about the northwest corner, like where the Texans come out of the tunnel? Anyone have any experience on where (approximately) the dividing line is for sun/shade for field level seats? I thought I remembered seeing a map that showed it, but can't seem to find it... ![]() Thanks for any input!

Anyone have any experience with, say, sections 111 or 112?

the sections to definitely stay out of are the 120/121 area. that area stays in the sun the longest, even late in the season. there are some 'windows' on the Reliant concourse itself that the sun will shine through and really 'splash' those sections with direct sunlight, especially after the sun has went down below the roof level and the rest of the 'sunny side' sections are all in the shade.
earlier in the season the lower level bullpen area stays in the sun almost the entire noon game. Later in the season it moves, at a very slight angle, from the 114 towards the 119 area as the game progress's. honestly though the stadium isn't oriented like Texas stadium where the visitors side is in the sun. It is more oriented to the point that the entire North endzone is sunny early in the season. With the sun moving slightly more towards the 119 corner later in the season. |

The lower part (closest to the field) of these sections will be in the sun until the 3rd qtr. Of course the roof will most likely be closed every game until November, so unless there is a freak occurrence like hurricane damage again, it's not as big an issue since the Texans modified the "roof policy".

need to re-modify the roof policy with no minimum temp requirements. sorry...I just can't understand that rule.

I am reminded of the tour they gave of Reliant Stadium while it was still under construction. They had a bunch of stuff set up inside the Astrodome and when you finished there you could walk over and see Reliant under construction.
By this time I already purchased my season tickets but of course was not able to select my seats. I looked up and saw the shade and pointed in that direction and told my son and two nephews, "Our seats will be in that area." When it came time to select the actual seats, I made damn sure I picked the area I pointed to. In the shade in 552. I was comfortable during the Pittsburgh game a few years back, hardly even a sweat.

I think the closed roof also gives us a better advantage with respect to noise. Go Texans |
