Some other posters here at Bleacher Report have hinted at it, while others have boldly proclaimed it.

Are the Houston Texans on the verge of becoming pro football’s next great dynasty?

Give owner Bob McNair’s management team credit: GM Rick Smith and head coach Gary Kubiak have assembled a lot of the right elements. The trick will be bringing those elements together to translate to success on the field.

When you compare what the Texans will be fielding in 2009 with some of the great NFL dynasties of the past, the parallels are there.

Great NFL dynasties always feature a strong head coach who players trust implicitly. I have been impressed by the way Kubiak has imprinted so much of his personality on this team.

Like the legendary Vince Lombardi, Kubiak doesn’t brook dissension. I’ve reviewed a lot of footage of the Texans and have scanned a lot of quotes from the team’s players during Kubiak’s tenure, and one thing which has stood out is the way players talk about their coach.

Even when it’s obvious they disagree with him, you hear things like: “…but he’s the coach, so we’re going to do it his way.”

Players who dissent don’t stay long in Houston.

The other part of the coaching element is called “genius.” It’s way too soon to apply that term to Kubiak, of course, but he has the coaching pedigree.

If this team can show a defense that can shut some teams down I have no problem with this opinion.

I'm not one that gets all emothional and antsy about things but damn... I'm effing amped about this season. I know the offense can handle things and the d is just a step away from crushing bodies.

I'm a cynical muffhugger, but I want to believe in this team. If the D goes out week 1 and 2 and kills bodies I have no reason not to believe we have a hell of a season coming up.

I would like to see us have our first winning season in franchise history, before I start throwing around the "D" word. We're putting the cart before the horse with this one.

You got that right. It's such a cliche, but really, defense wins championships. We've seen it over and over and over again.

If Frank Bush's squad starts putting fear into other teams, then we can start talking about a dynasty.

Seriously... what else is there? Secondary? Yeah... If the line plays out well this year and the LBs blow up I think we can start celebrating a little bit. I don't care what anyone says, the Offense is there. Schaub stays healthy and we're blowing the damn scoreboard up.

Defense baby... we get that defense on and these guys can't be stopped.

IMO, putting the words dynasty and Texans together is like trying to force two magnets together. They do not belong together. Ask me after five to ten years worth of consistant winning seasons and I might give you the time of day.

Dynasty? Ha, freakin offseason!

People might balk at speaking of a dynasty for a team who's never even had a winning season. But, people around the NFL have a lot of good things to say about our team. It was only a few weeks ago that Dungy was saying we were only a "confidence piece" away.

I don't think many would be surprised if it happened.

Jeez the bandwagon fills up and empties quickly around these parts. Dynasty? We've never won 9 games. We've never made it to the playoffs. How in the world can you throw around that word?
