Del Rio probably offered him the helmet (being a former SC backer himself) and Cushing accepted, who knows. Maybe Cushing's broke in half after being smashed into some poor HB.

The Browns' coaching staff coached the North and the Jag's coaching staff coached the South. There were other players during the practice who wore the Jags helmet besides Cushing. Maybe, reward for good practice or just a case of substitution for "wardrobe malfunction."

I would guess that it was due to missing equipment or damage.

They talked about it on the practice show on the NFLn, Cushing's helmet did not arrive in time for him to practice with it the 1st couple of days. A couple of other players also had the same issue.

Understandable that he had to use the helmet. What I don't understand is why they would put that on the Texans webpage. He's a Houston Texan, not a Jaguar who is our hated divisional rival. They couldn't use a picture after his helmet arrived? C'mon now...
