Default Cowboy Stadium GM Causing Negative Press and Possibly More

The "ultimate" penalty is unlikely to get handed down due to "political pressures," but .......if it does, Jerry may need to tell fans that the only yellow fluid that will be found during games will be lemonade and urine.

State investigating arrest of Cowboy stadium general manager

ARLINGTON — The Dallas Cowboys could be fined and the liquor-sales permit for the new stadium could be suspended if state investigators determine that the stadium’s general manager drank too much on opening night, officials said Friday.

The general manager, Jack Hill, 53, was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

His vehicle was involved in a minor collision on Randol Mill Road right outside the new Cowboys Stadium, hours after its inaugural event. No one was injured. Hill failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, police said.

Now the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission is investigating whether Hill consumed too much alcohol at the stadium.

"If an employee is intoxicated on a licensed premises, we can cancel or suspend the permit for that violation," said Capt. Charlie Cloud of the commission’s Dallas office.

The agency is also working to determine whether Hill is employed by the permit holder or by a related company, which may have a bearing on the penalty, he said.

The standard penalty for a first-time offense of an employee being intoxicated on a licensed premises is a $300 fine and suspension of the license for 17 to 25 days, according to the Alcoholic Beverage Code.

Repeat offenses can lead to longer suspensions or cancellation of the permit.

The investigation, which is being handled by the agency’s Fort Worth office, could wrap up quickly or drag out, depending on the cooperation of witnesses, Cloud said. Cowboys spokesman Brett Daniels issued this statement Friday: "We are aware and are cooperating with their review."

Hill, who had been construction manager for the $1.15 billion stadium, was released from jail Sunday on $1,000 bail.

Many fans discovered that their cell phones didn't work during the concert. Jerry claims that 100 cell towers have been placed. The Cowboys claim that it is due simply to the system not having been configured.........wiring not having been connected and programming the system. This is somewhat curious as the towers have been in place for some time, and the rest is something that takes very little time.

Could we see alcoholic football fans forced to support the Texans, and alcoholic baseball fans forced to support the Rangers?

Imagine going to Minute Maid Park and not being able to drink a nice cold beer. That could happen if the park loses it's license to sell alcohol. The Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission or TABC confirms it does have an ongoing administrative investigation against Aramark. Aramark is a vending company that supplies alcohol to Minute Maid Park during the Astros games and at many other venues around the city.

(Prediction - neither Cowboys nor Astros fans will be deprived of their in-game beverages.)

Describe the experience. I'm not sure at this point, with work and all, if I will be able to go to the opening game in August, and by the first regular season game I wonder if it will be as exciting as it would had I gone to the Strait concert.

Wow! Talk about the dark ages from where I come. I actually lived through and enjoyed the time that I left home, sat through an entire game and returned home without a phone. I'm still stubborn in a way, because if there isn't anything really earth shattering, I still don't use my phone much. Thanks AT&T for rollover minutes.

You and me both!

The obsession people have with their cell phones, etc is amusing. Can't put them away for 4 hours without having fits!

You are fortunate. Some of us cannot ethically or legally unbind ourselves from pagers and phones, for even a short period of time.

I know there are some that have no choice but the vast majority of people use their phones for calls and such that could wait.

It's an addiction; they can't do without them.
